So been chatting all week to a single lady on here who sent me a wink. She was verified, most recently by a male friend who was just that.. nothing would ever happen between them apparently... she was photo verified and a site supporter.
We kept things anonymous, part of the meet fantasy, and had exchanged many messages in the lead up to a potential meet this week.
Her profile was hidden most of the time, supposedly not to upset her ex. But now she’s totally vanished. Not hidden her profile, totally deleted it I’m guessing.
It seems a lot of trouble to catfish someone just a day before the meet date. I had a gut feeling about it being fishy, but maybe I’m just being naive.
Does this happen a lot?

"That’s what set my spidey sense tingling.. but I went with it, knowing that either could back out at any time.
Just seems such a waste of time, effort and even money on their part. Bizarre" ,
The human mind is a strange thing.
I watch catfish the show like . The people who do it very often seem insecure with low self esteem. |

I wouldn’t have the time or energy to pretend to be someone else..
I guess the film & tv show makes it more normal now, and that reality show where people choose who they become. Crazy ain’t the word for it. |

"I had a similar experience end of last week and come Monday for the meet, a no show and silence ... one of the reasons I’ve lost so much faith in this site .. but hey ho, keep plugging away "
Right there with ya |

I usually presume female profiles with one male veri or none at all, are fake. Especially those recently set up!
I can’t speak for getting ignored around meet time because I’ve never got as far as arranging a meet, probably because of the first paragraph |

Are these people site supporters? Anyone can open an account on here and chat, it's about time they muted people chatting who haven't paid a subscription.
We block anyone who hasn't paid a fiver. |

Happened to me last night. After months of no interest and deleted messages one couple showed interest in meeting. A new profile with no photos etc but after a bit of chat sent two photos. We planned to meet and develop the friendship if things worked out. This morning they've vanished and even my messages sent and received have gone too ?? (profile removed by admin ?) |

They are either outright fakes, or else just dreamers, wannabes and time wasters who like to talk, but bottle out when it comes to actually meeting someone.
Site is infested with them sadly, but then so are all others. It's just something the rest of us have to live with. You learn to spot them after a while.
But despite all that there are plenty of genuine people on here too. |

"However, in the OPs case if "she" was a site supporter and photo verified, she may well be genuine and just have lost her nerve at the last minute "
She may be genuine but a time-waster nonetheless.
If one has the time to arrange a meet, he/she should have the courtesy to cancel it rather than be a no-show and waste other's time and money.

Women are funny creatures. Was she someone you had met previously, who was checking up on you? There are many fakes on here. Plus lots of people have 'secret' second accounts, tailored to what they want. You've had a lucky escape by the sound of things. |

No, that happens when people delete their account. |

A lot of "fakes" can be eliminated by using filters and observation.
Filter out new profiles, don't engage with profiles that aren't photo verified or have no verifications, that don't have any photos and that want sex chat immediately. Use reverse image search too. Ask to meet for a quick coffee sooner rather than later and if the 25 year old, stunning young woman or man seems too good to be true when they say they have always wanted to have sex with someone just like you it probably is too good to be true.I
He cynical, don't trust that anybody is who they say they are until you are sitting opposite them in the coffee shop of your mutual choice. |

Exactly. This is a site for no strings sex. Virtually everyone will lie to a greater or lesser degree. |

"Happens so much, nearly every new message I think the worse, but what no-one has been able to explain is "what do they get out of it""
I think it's probably a similar feeling that people who key cars and in the days when they had them bent aerials. Power, the idea that they were getting one over on "them" , just because they can.

Yep. First rule of the internet, do not make yourself vulnerable to opportunists and charlatans. |

This was another thought. But why delete her entire account? She could have just hidden it. |

Best thing we ever did was block the guys (sorry chaps but we don't want to meet you for play anyway) newbies & the unverified..
That way they cannot message you & you have a very quiet mailbox, but if one does happen to pop up you might be willing to take a chance on you still can.
