Should pansexual be in the options when filling out a profile?
It basically means you play with anyone that you want to .. the sex of someone doesn’t matter ..
Or is that being Bi ?
I see pansexual used so much especially in dating sites and amongst they younger people..
Thought I’d start a discussion

It's basically just bisexual. You like both sexes... I don't see the need for any other option really. You can always explain hinge in your bio if you feel the need. |

I identify as bisexual. I feel like my inclusive definition of bisexual covers everything pansexual does.
I also feel like there's enough of a fight against bisexual erasure and biphobia to be won without clouding the issue with another term
That said I totally feel everyone should be free to identify as they choose without judgement, it's just not for me personally |

"Since you can choose what gender you're interested in it seems pointless to restrict it.
Just make it a free input box and write what you like there."
It'd make searches impossible if you did that x |

I identify as pansexual rather than bisexual for the simple reason that bi implies you are attracted to only male and female, it doesn't account for transitioning or intersex individuals.
I have selected Bi as that is the closest thing that Fab has but I would like to see Pansexual added as an option. |

We've had this discussion the other night too. Bunny feels pansexual describes her best where BangOn views himself as Bisexual. Either way, it means we like to play sexually with all we find attractive, be that physical or mental attraction. |

Up on them there hills |
"Different for couples where one is bi and the other isn’t, so pan works for us in our relationship.
Surely if one of you is straight then you can't truly be classed as pansexual? "
Why? Pan sexual relationship means (in my head) that all people play together in a relationship of equality.
In our case it would be FF, FM or FMF.
Please advise me if I’m wrong and just need to join the Morman’s ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

I identify as bisexual on here but my orientation is more accurately pansexual in that I fancy people, their gender is irrelevant to me. I don’t really care about the labels except to narrow down the search for potentially compatible people. |

"Pansexual is an attitude and lifestyle not a sexuality, unless you are attracted to satyrs "
I would be interested in a deeper explanation of this if you don't mind? |

It seems that most people are as confused as myself Lol
I feel bisexual men are slightly stigmatised on here, whilst bisexual women are seen as cool .
I don’t meet guys for sex, but as part of a threesome I like to play with everyone..
So I was wondering if the term pansexual suited me more . |

I agree. If you're attracted to both sexes, male and female, regardless of the reason/circumstances of that attraction, then you are, by definition, bisexual.
Saying that you "don't see the sex of a person" or "are attracted to people regardless of sex" doesn't change the fact that you're attracted to both sexes. Why overcomplicate it. |

People talk about sexuality like there's a manual go back 30 years and people were saying the same things about gay people.
I am, by definition, what I define myself as. If someone defines themselves as pansexual (and finds meaning in the distinction between that and bisexual) then cool, they've found a way to describe their sexuality that works for them, I see no reason not to just be happy about that. |

I think that young people are troubled by gender binary fixation and they seek fluidity. No pun intended. To be pansexual is to date anyone whether they be man or woman, gay, bi or trans. A greater interest in sexuality than in gender. |
