In the NE, the use of lads and lasses has no link to age. You're a lad or a lass from birth 'til the day that you die. The big boss tried to stop the use of what she thought was 'sexist and demeaning language' but had to back down as it was her ignorance of the dialect. It's a very inclusive language, the NE dialect. |
