Worth re-visiting again...
If you receive a message in which the grammar, the spelling or the level of the contextual speech is poor, does this put you off?
Does it annoy you?
Or do you disregard this aspect and consider the other aspects such as photos, physical appearance, verifications or another appealing virtue? |

Some folk have spelling issues like dyslexia.. That's the least of your worries on here Tbh.. I'd rather have a poor spelt message than a rude crude or abusive spelt correct message.
With technology. And predicted text it can all go a bit Pete Tonge for rest of us too |

So if it is not spelt correctly, then it has implications, possibly, such as dyslexia but what about the construction of sentences or the types of words used? Does this have any bearing? |

Sometimes, yes it does. I suppose you have to make allowances these days for auto-text on phones. If the messenger hasn't read it through, it can be a mess. That said, it amazes me how many people find it difficult to construct a simple sentence and that doesn't show anyone in a good light. |

To some extent, but the person is a package so other criteria matters also. |

My daughter is severely dyslexic and sometimes what she writes, spelling, construction and/or grammar makes what she writes incredibly difficult to understand especially when messaging, even though she's at uni doing an amazing degree ... so no, it doesn't ever get judged negatively by me. However lazy text speak, crudeness and bad manners do because they're a personal choice as opposed to what is classed as a disability |

Fair points.
Agree text speak is the cardinal sin.
Lazy speech could be construed as a lazy mind or badly organised personality.
I am sure that it is not always the case but 'first impressions' as they say... |

It depends.
You can usually spot an auto correct error and ignore that (it even happens to me!)
But ‘chav/text’ talk is an instant turn off
Or, worst of all ‘hehe’ but that’s just my personal pet peeve.
Everyone’s different

When having dyslexia (like myself), a family member or friend with dyslexia, it’s possible to distinguish the signs from laziness i.e. text speak, etc. Which is a turn off, as it demonstrates no effort into messages. The odd typo wouldn’t faze us either, as it’s easy to do.
Well done to your daughter doing a degree. There’s much better support now for conditions like dyslexia than what it was 35 years ago when I was at school. I was ‘written’ off, but now doing my second Masters.
