I'm always uncertain at what point in chatting to someone it's appropriate to suggest becoming Friends on here. Obviously everyone has different rules - what are yours? Do you only add people you've met? People you're confident you'll meet? Or just people you've chatted to for a bit who seem nice? |

For me it's often just a way to show someone my friends only pics. The people I keep as friends are either people I actually consider friends, have met or intend to meet. After a few messages of decent conversation I don't mind someone asking. |

"We just ask 'is it ok to send you a friend request'. Usually we wait until we have decided this person is someone we would like to meet at some point.
Gem"
This, absolutely. As with all things here, just be normal friendly and respectful. |

Random friend requests are so pointless. When I do send one, it's with the message that I've enjoyed chatting, and don't want their name to get lost in new messages coming in.
