Is Swinging the last taboo ?
Jump to: Newest in thread
In the modern world I think it’s really strange that a couple in an established relationship especially if married ( not FBs , FWBs or singles) who choose to have exciting sex with similar other couples would be considered to be at the very least ‘a bit odd’ or more likely ‘perverted’ by the General Public . Try casually mentioning around the family dinner table or in the workplace that you are swingers and see what reaction you get !
In these days when Homosexuality Transgender ,Naturism etc has gladly generally overcome these prejudices us swingers are the last ones in the closet hiding our dirty little secret. |

We're in a very loving and serious relationship, but we're both bi and are swingers. We don't "broadcast" it but we don't hide it either. We're very proud of who we are

Well you face is hidden so you are hiding your identity which perhaps supports my suggestion . |

I think you have a point, op. The general public (and the press) is a long, long way from being relaxed and accepting of swinging. Can't see it changing any time soon. |

Seconded. Maybe we should just celebrate that we have taken our relationships to a new, higher, uninhibited level |

Absolutely, and anyway it's kinda nice being part of the underground movement. |

I think trans/ sexuality prejudices still exist, not totally overcome yet.
Sex is bad. Sex should be between 2 married people with the lights off.

"No, hairy armpits are the last taboo... "
Not to everone its not, im indiffent to it, im of the oppinion that body hair is a natural occurrance and what people do with their own is non of my concern, i may well be in a minority here given how much voice is given in the forums concerning smooth vs natural |

The upper class are far more accepting of swinging, having a mistress ,or lover than the working class ,remember reading about the Sloane rangers in Chelsea 50 men 50 women all had sex with each other no embarrassment |

Me too.
Owing to some kind of personality flaw (or long ingrained hang ups) I only seem to be able to really enjoy sex if it's illicit and 'naughty'.
The moment I try to go public and introduce a partner to the wider world, it all goes wrong |

I'm not sure if it's that taboo anyone, especially amongst younger people. A radio report I heard a while ago was about a survey on relationship and sexual attitudes in the UK. It found that in comparison to previous years peoples attitudes towards open relationships, polygamy, non heterosexual relationships, casual sex and kink are far more supportive and positive. However attitudes towards cheating and affairs is now viewed way more negatively that it has been in previous decades. So if anything cheating is now the big taboo. |

I wouldn't class swinging as taboo, I wouldn't class it as kink
There is a need in the "scene" for swinging to be held up as the height of kink when its far far from it. |

we trust each other 100%, would never dream of cheating and will be together until the end, we’re soul mates. We will also happily watch each other having sex with others.
We know some vanilla couples who would judge us if they knew our “secret “, yet a few of them have had affairs or have marriage problems.
Makes us feel a little smug to be honest that they don’t know what we know |

The same really applies to all the things the OP cited as ‘accepted’ too. An awful lot of people tolerate difference grudgingly because they’ve been told that they have to. |
