I'm (the fella) am away far too of the with work. I'm away now and have left my other half at home

I'm away for a minimum of 8 months a year. Honestly I feel your pain. Every time you leave there is tears and you feel like shit for days on end. Unfortunately it takes a certain mind set which is not easy. My only advice is to associate yourself with positive people and be positive yourself. Harder said than done.

It's really rubbish sometimes, isn't it? We live in different cities and both have our own respective families to raise so living together is not on the cards for many years. It's really hard when all we want to do is be together and enjoy the simple pleasures that normal couples get to do every day. But we love each other and couldn't be without each other. Our situation just is what it is. It's hard for us, especially sometimes when you just want a cuddle or the support of them just by your side. But we take comfort in knowing we will always have each other and love each other even if we can't physically always be together. And as difficult as it is we would always trade being with each other in our situation over anything and anyone else.

Yeah im same with my girls when away miss them both loads. But they worth waiting for and im sure you makeup for things when your back in January mate. Shows how strong a relationship you have really does. Shes stunning. |

(Mr here) when I was in the forces I used to be away a lot (and often out of the country) for a good part of the year. Sometimes with very limited/no personal communication with home. I was married to my ex wife back then and missed her loads. I know likewise it was hard for her, especially when there was no direct communication. Things got even harder when my first child came along (and the reason why I left, so I could be around for my kids). But as callous as this may sound I found things a lot easier when you are always totally busy with stuff and immersed in your work. Basicly so busy that you don't get time to think about back home. So my advice is to stay super busy, keep occupied when away and to make the very best time of things when your at home. But unfortunately it will never be easy but we need to do what we must to put bread on the table. |

Totally agree plus i think you guys and girls that serve in our armed forces are awesome anyways. I couldnt do what you do but glad you do to keep rest of us safe. Im sure your girl agrees with that too. |

The worst time for me was when hubby was in the Army. We had a 2 year old and i had just given birth to our son, hubby was sent to Belize for 6 months. We didn't see each other at all. We had also just moved back to England from Germany so i didn't know anyone at all in our new location...that was incredibly tough.  |
