How many chances would you give someone to meet if they have let you down already but with seemingly some ‘genuine’ reasons?

Asking for a friend.....

Not second chances regardless of how genuine... what’s the point putting your self through some bullshit that will almost certainly happen next time too

One. We don't expect chances to be given to us either.

We we had to cancel a social once, the guy went to all the trouble of arranging another social so that he could revenge cancel.

I would give them a second chance if I thought it was a genuine reason but no more if it happened again

Depends on a reason.

I would appreciate a second chance myself.

Could have been a valid reason?

I always think giving someone a chance means giving them the benefit of the doubt once. Am I misinterpreting?

We have a zero tolerance stance - no second chances. Maybe harsh as some maybe genuine, majority not though.

If a reasonable explanation is presented, then given another chance.

If it happens again no way Jose. People need to organise their lives and not mess others around.

Out of 16 arranged meets, we've actually met with five and postponed one ourselves. So we now work on there being only a 1:3 chance that someone's going to turn up.

If they let us know beforehand then they'll get a second chance. But almost all just go silent and don't reply to messages or let us know. So they don't get another chance.

It depends on the person/people and the reasons why to how we would respond..

Each to their own I guess.

Ive only ever cancelled twice, one was when i came off my motorbike on the way to meet them, and even sent pics of my bike, and the other was when my cat drank antifreeze and had to rush to emergency vet and still lost him, and that was with a few hours notice. Got blocked by both

Was it the same person you were meeting? My friend has been let down 3 times by the same man....she is pretty fed up bless her.....

For me, it depends who it is, whether we met before and whether they had a genuine reason. Usually- 1 chance if the reason seemed genuine and/or they let me know beforehand. If just total silence- immediate block.

Two is too many, in my experience! However I may be persuaded to give them a second chance, but only if they have a very good reason for blowing be out the first time.

This site has too many pretenders for me to think otherwise.

None , had it a couple of times, arranged to meet then pathetic excuses, block and move on.

Never had any not turn up

We have been postponed a couple of times. We have had a few guys turn up without accompaniment .

Walked away from a few.

One

Two rarely but that would depend if we believed them

A couple of tomes I’ve had meets cancel on me last minute, and only one no show, but I always to say to a potential meet, anything could happen so whilst I’ll do my absolute best to be there, there is always the unforeseen circumstances something drastic could happen, ie children, parents or loved one falling ill....

So I would always give someone at least a second chance, I like to think I’m a fair judge of character and I know if someone is keen on meeting or not.

Just don’t get the no shows and then blocking you, all very odd!?!

Speaking as someone who cancelled yesterday I’d say one. And only if you REALLY think they are genuine. Every time I’ve foolishly stretched to more they have just messed me about again.

One more chance and would expect them to be in touch to rearrange,

If they cancelled again that would then be a no from us.

When i was meeting, i would always give another chance, if the reason seeked genuing. I know emergencies creep up. I've had to cancel myself. Luckily they understood and gave me another chance. If they then did it again, that's when i pulled the plug

Every situation is different & many people are naturally suspicious since they have been messed around in the past. I think you have just got to trust your gut feeling, It`s usually right.

We had this too, couldn't believe someone would be so childish.

we have given 2nd chances a few times but honesty they have rarely paid off.

Depends how far out it is. With my work it is possible that future plans may need to be cancelled. I would expect that for others too. If I need to cancel I give as much notice as possible and would expect the same in return. I wouldn’t mess anyone around at short notice, but recognise emergencies happen. In all likelihood I will have spent a considerable time getting to know the person I’m meeting so I treat them as I would any friend.

I give 2nd chances as I would like to have them as well, life has twists and turns and if they are not prepared to give me a second chance when I speak to them everyday then they are a cockwomble and I am decidedly better off

P.s if you are reading this and joke cancel on me tomorrow there will be trouble
