What do folk do when they steal photos??
Jump to: Newest in thread
Set up a new profile. It happened to us. We only found out when a fab friend told us but we couldn't view the profile as they'd blocked us. So they totally knew how to hide it from us. Luckily our fab friend reported it and they got taken down. Still, it's left us wary of uploading pics on here. |

There and to the left a bit |
Pictures have also been known to appear on other sites - there have in the past been a spate of them appearing on the small furry pet rodent one and the one that no longer allows porn.
Likewise pics from porn sites are often "borrowed" to use here |

It depends how vindictive they are.
Some just set up profiles & catfish from behind a computer, others find out more about you & share around your personal life.
It's classed as revenge porn but can be hard to trace if it's fake profiles. |

"We always wonder what things do people do when they steal photos?
Technically once uploaded to the net, they are given away so can't be stolen.
"
No, they are covered under copyright law also so they are still the property of the person who took the photo. |

"That's the good thing about snap chat
Can they not still screenshot & cut the pic so phone buttons aren't showing?
Yes, very easily "
Snapchat alerts you if your pics are saved or screenshot by the other person, at least from the phone the perpetrator is connected on with you |

I took my photo galleries off xhamster after I discovered someone had copied them all to another site and set up a profile using them...
....it was annoying, but at the same time imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! |

My pics were taken off here and put on a profile on a dating site it was someone on here told me when they got annoyed that I didn't talk to them on here. When I pointed out I've never been on a dating site they told me my pics are on there. I just told him report the profile I want setting up an account to try and find them. I do think it's pretty sad and pathetic that people do not tho. |

"Maybe they add them to their wank bank if not setting up fake profiles. "
I think this is the most likely answer and I like them using mine to get off. I wish more if them told me about it afterwards though. Still, help yourselves folks I love it. |

Very hard to prove copyright on a photo, it is nominally held by the photographer so being in it is not legally proof. Plus you voluntarily put it in the public domain once it is put on the internet unless you also post a copyright notice with it.
Any legal issues around infringement of copyright would be expensive and uncertain, especially if the defendant can show no monetary gain was made.
False profiles is a weird phenomenon, I personally don't understand why people would invest time and effort creating them knowing they can never meet through them as they dont match the image created. People are weird! |

I've had people use mine on here. You report them and it takes ages for anything to happen. Post a status saying so and so has used your pics and they onto you. |

Had one of mine used as a main profile pic on a site similar to this. I uploaded four of the photos from the same photo series onto my profile, reported it to the site admin and message all the listed friends that it was a fraudulent profile. The friends all responded to me positively and thanked me and the admin of the site soon took the profile down. I now watermark my name over any images I upload. |

They set a profile and catfish people into sending them more pics and videos.....
It’s a viscous cycle |
