It's becoming quite boring when you come across a profile and think ' ooh la laa ' in the French accent lol , I would like to get to know a bit more about her and guess what you can't send a message because your under her age limit by , Ok wait for this a miserly 1 or 2 years OMG , its quite deflating.
And don't say just move on to the next profile because its become quite evident there are a lot more guys that want to meet than women on this site , it just seems to narrow the options a lot more for genuine single guys that want to meet . |

Stop moaning.
Girls and couples rule this site if they don't want to meet a certain age then respect it and move on.
Guys are in the 100s on this site and tbh most guys on here think its a site to get sex easy well it ain't far from it. its a good place to meet people who have a good intrest in sex.
Just because you msg that ladie don't mean she's going to drop her nickers for you.
It's like having a women at work you talk but don't mean she wants drag you of the loo and have a wild time. There got to be a connection.
If you can't get your head around this and think men have a hard time on here. Don't think this is the site for you. |

How is someone's personal preference narrowing your options?
You do realise people join the site for their own hedonistic pleasure. If you find that boring because it excludes you, the owners are not holding you hostage here you're free to leave at anytime.

References to "tin hats and bulletproof vests" are childish, as is having a strop because you are excluded from some profiles.

And what do you expect us to do? People are entitled to have a preference on anything they like so if you are unable to access their profile because you are either too old or too young, I am afraid that's tough 
It doesn't narrow your options at all, if there are say 30,000 single women and you can only access 20,000, do you seriously expect me to believe you cannot find someone to shag  don't forget socials and clubs too, you might find that no-one asks how old you are in midst flow
I did wonder when someone would comment on the message filter after it came out last year though this isn't quite what I thought would happen, nor did I think it would take so long |

Like the previous posters have said its the users themselves who decide which mail to allow through, not the site, so it is down to people's preferences at the end of the day, which you can't blame them for as we can't help what we are attracted to.
Plus I'm only slightly younger than you so should be in the same boat. Yet I have no problem with the filters whatsoever, I simply have fun with ladies who are looking for a man of 34, plus some who aren't but message me first because they find I suit their requirements anyway.
In truth the only thing I have beef with is my stupidly high amount of working hours as without that hurdle I'd be able to meet much more of the time, rather than often cramming every part of my social life into part of a single day...  |

I just don't get turned on by the idea of someone younger than me. I've actually lowered my limit to 30 but since I turned 31 I've yet to actually meet someone of that age.
Why should I change that just because you want to meet? It's not 1 or 2 measly years to me, it's the difference between getting turned on at the thought of meeting someone and not |

Theres a lady on here who letts just say is older than me. She has a clear age limit of which I fall short by a good couple of years yet.
We have had some good banter so far and tho I think hey come on woman what the hells wrong with you I am a man at 36yrs old ya no. I have to respect her age preference for a reason as it is her preference |

am i missing something here ... you are unhappy people have age perference and you are outside that by a year or two . so why then have you set an age perference up to 62???lol ! .is it a case of dont do as i do ,do as i say ?? you have perferences jus same the same as others .if you wish them to respect yours then you have to respect others . i will point out that you are pinning being turned down due to age ,it may have nothing to do with your age they may just not be attracted to you ,not impressed by your message /profile ,not local enough or far away enough ect ect ,numerous other reasons ! stop focusing on those you dont fit what they want and take posative action. re vamp profile and pics, review your approach and accept not everyone will want to play with everyone on here ! |

how do you not know they havent given a extra few years to either side of their age barrier, it might say 30-40 for example but really they might be wanting people 33-38 and just had a few years either side so people like yourself can send a message! |

You're missing the point lol we're not talking about picking people out of a line up. Ages are on profiles and for whatever reason, it switches me off when I see a man is younger than me. Attraction isn't a science and it's not logical. I have a thing for older men and that's not going to change just because someone else wants to meet. |

That would be pretty silly as it would bring more people onto the forum starting threads about people that don't have age preferences on their profile and should have to save them getting deflated when they realise they are not likely to get anywhere....did you see what I did there? |

Surely if someone has limits,preferences,whatever, then that's entirely up to them, and you shouldn't be worrying about what you can't change, and just respect em for it.
If they've set an age range filter up, I'm sure they've thought it out well, and the lower or higher end is there for a reason.
I'm also sure that one single profile doing that is not seriously limiting your choices - the glass is seriously more full than empty - it's really more just a case of knowing what you like to drink

Lots of people get messages stating i know that im only one year out of your age range, but im sure you can make an exception, some will, some wont, its not rocket science OP, age filters are there to be used whether you like them or not, again, some will use them, some wont....i really dont understand your thinking to be honest, you have said stuff like this before when you have been on previously, its obvious to me that you are not getting what you want from the site, i think sometimes you come across as your glass is half empty if im to be honest.
So why is this? Im not sure, maybe you have unrealistic expectations? Im not knocking that as im sure you are not the only one, but in all honesty you come across as someone that will never be happy with stuff no matter what...anyway having said all that , why dont you concentrate on the people that are interested in you, instead of moaning about the people who are not? |

We have age limits on our profile however we have set them a year or so either way of what we are really looking for. This is to allow for that possible great guy who is one year over/under our criteria.
I understand why people use the age limits, we got sick of really young guys sending messages saying we should try a younger guy. Everyone has preferences and you just have to deal with them. |

And don't say just move on to the next profile because its become quite evident there are a lot more guys that want to meet than women on this site , it just seems to narrow the options a lot more for genuine single guys that want to meet . Lots of people get messages stating i know that im only one year out of your age range, but im sure you can make an exception, some will, some wont, its not rocket science OP, age filters are there to be used whether you like them or not, again, some will use them, some wont....i really dont understand your thinking to be honest, you have said stuff like this before when you have been on previously, its obvious to me that you are not getting what you want from the site, i think sometimes you come across as your glass is half empty if im to be honest.

thing is is you have your age limit set at 40, this is just an example, and someone mails you whos 38 you may think on its just a couple of years and then someone mails you whos 36 and again you think oh i met a 38 year old it just a couple of years next thing you know your bonking a 21 year old
if age bothers you you have to draw the line somewhere and stuck to it |

I can't be arsed to read all the replies on this thread and it might have already been said, we are ALL entitled to our preferances and if I'm not wrong you have an age preferance on your own profile - Why won't you meet people over 55? I assume it's because that is YOUR preferance!

If people in their 30's are complaining about it being hard to meet folks, should wait until they are over 50 and then learn what difficult really is. I have an occasional rant when folks mess me about, but overall I enjoy the few meets I get and so should everyone. |

Personally I would look at them, decide they are way too young and not bother at all, remember, if someone is more interested in their own age, those ages will never look on par with mine |

I don't understand the problem with people blocking what they're not looking for?
It saves you wasitng your time waiting for a response you're never going to get.
To be fair, I see why people do it. I regularly get messages from 21, 22, 23, 50, 51, 52 yr olds who have just not bothered to read my profile. Why should I have to bother reading through this tripe, when, quite frankly, I don't want to have sex with anyone young enough to be my son or old enough to be my dad - just because they can't read???

I get what you're saying, I have the same problem at the other end...I'm a couple of years older than the age specified... !
Reading a profile through a few times will also reveal that (if you're not blocked anyway) your message will get deleted if you don't meet the criteria.
So, in my experience you have to search for those people whose criteria you fit, then send a 'sit up and take notice' message.
Don't ask me what one looks like, there's no formula to this.
Also helps to go to the local clubs and be friendly and relaxed without any expectations.

I have that I prefer men under 40.. but dont have my filters set to exclude those over.. if a guy messaged me that didnt look his age... and fit other areas I would consider him.
I used to have 50 as the upper limit but found that I prefered 20-30 but thought that was a little restrictive..
To be fair how someone looks to me is more important than the age.
