"Why is Russian always the bad guys in movies, do you think in Russian film Americans and Brits are the bad guys?"
Because russian at the moment are seen as the bad guys like the British actors always ended up playing the Germans in America films and Muslims always betrayed as terrorist it generally society and the news media fault of classing everyone or stereotyping. |

Watching The Equalizer right now. Half way through. Russians are real bad b@st@rds in it but Denzel Washington's character is ace. Explosive start when you find out the real Denzel about 20-30mins in.
Hope it continues like that to end because a Russian fella just destroys everyone in his path to get to Denzel, even women. Denzel's the good guy by miles but a bad ass when tested. |

"English play quite a few bad guys too"
Mmm.. Hugh Laurie's character in the series, The Night Manager, was a bad b@stard.
I mention this to counter the argument re: Russians as we have the quintessential Englishman being portrayed as real bad. |

Seen the film but can't remember anything except Denzel doing Steven Siegel kicking everyone's ass. |

No. In Russian films they're also the bad guys and the Brits and Americans are the heroes. Seriously. |

Loki - Completely nuts demigod, hell bent on Universal Domination. Asgardian and English sounding. (Good when backed into a corner)
Lucifer Morningstar - The Devil. English Accent. (Punisher of sinners but fundamentally good apart from leading an uprising against God in the Silver City).

There is a very simple answer. The Russian diaspora is not a close-knit one but rather a set of culturally very different diaspora who use Russian as their language but can culturally be very different. Russians (whoever you refer to by that name) are still more used to vent their troubles to each other in the kitchen than get united and go fight for their rights and against discrimination. They also (in their majority) try very hard to assimilate in their new country, so unlikely to complain about such trivial (to them) things as being depicted as the baddies in movies and more likely to laugh it off, along with some film directors' inability to have their characters speak Russian correctly - but this goes for most languages. |

Not exactly but certainly not baddies. They are more likely to be secondary characters though.
It is not 1975 any more. |

"If u compare Russian with British, Russians are gentelmans in every aspect...it’s enough to see British people on holidays..enough said..."
Indeed. With Russians on holiday, some will be annoying but most you will never know are Russian. It is only the less cultured ones that stand out. |
