Seems as if many of you here don't care, if you catch something through oral sex " it's not that u don't care.. it's just I know it's not as much as a risk and 23years average 5 a week... And no... still okay. |

So the general view is no condom or dam, but how many of you have actually been tested and found to have caught something?
I know my sis in law ended up with herpes from her ex (he was a dodgy wanker personally but not the type that gets lots of action if you know what i mean). |

condoms don't give 100% protection from STI's, for example warts and with Herpes - it can be caught basically anywhere on your body where it is exposed to your skin, including your fingers and hands.
It is basically down to what risk you are willing to take, while making sure you are regularly tested

Good question. I have never caught anything due to lack of sex lol.
It will be interesting to hear about other people. |

I'm tested every 4 to 6 weeks depending on how active I've been. I've never caught anything. And herpes you could catch even using condoms as they don't protect against herpes |

Some double standards that are often ignored with this subject... Most won't let a stranger bareback them but will happily suck a bare cock
I don't feel there is less risk at all, both actions are equally as risky, when you get clap in your throat your vagina will thank you for using a condom and sparing it, you're still taking medication as a result.
I'm not aiming this at women either, men do it just the same, we are all guilty I'm sure! |

"Do you put anything round a ladys pussy when licking her ?
clearly not so why does a woman have to put a condom on to suck cock same thing .
"
There is technically a higher risk of infection from putting your mouth on a penis than there is putting your mouth on labia.
FYI you can use dental dams when giving oral sex to women if you want to mitigate as much risk as possible. |

I'm aware that statistically you're less likely to catch something with oral, however, to me the risk is the same as in both carry the risk of infection. |

I use protection for oral, I prefer to keep any risk as low as possible- and some STIs are actually more likely to be transmitted via oral sex (ie. Gonhorrea and herpes) |

"I've heard that Skyn condoms aren't made of latex so taste ok.
I've never tried myself to confirm this though."
Skyn feel amazing but have an awful taste. Flavoured skyn are the best of all worlds though. |

The responibility must be up to the individuals engaged in oral sex... A total stranger or associate is an obvious risk and it would make sense to know their character and life style prior to any involvement..
Get to know someone fully and don't be in a hurry...get 'there' disease free... |

This is a ‘brave’ post and a subject too often glossed over.
Whatever activity you engage in, if not with a trusted partner (yes, I know they can have affairs etc etc) you are taking a risk.
Swinging is often glamourised but risk of disease should be understood.
Some STDs can still be caught with condoms yes but for penetration a condom offers good protection against hiv - and you can get hiv from oral sex (although lower risk, the risk is still there).
When swinging my approach was never oral sex and always a condom for penetration.
The irony is that the only STD I got was from wanking bare arsed in a video booth watching porn - so maybe swinging is safer!!! |

I've got loads of flavoured condoms in my toy box. A lot of them are suitable for penetration so can be useful for sessions when u are alternating between oral and vaginal...not having to stop to put on condoms every time you swap.
Do I use them all the time? No but they have their place in my repertoire |

Risk for oral sex is considered lower risk due the digestive enzymes in saliva. But if you have an open wound in your mouth or sore gums infection rate would increase.
Just kissing someone with a cold sore can catch it. A lot of genital herpes is hsv-1 but also some cold sores on the mouth are hsv-2 doesn't need to be sexual contact to catch. (Most people with cold sores actually caught them in childhood from other children)
Problem comes when even your local sexual health clinic doesn't stock dental dams. They don't feel the risk is high enough to stock and distribute them. They also question the effectiveness of dental dams. Single use like a condom. But if you put it down for a second to say drink or something do you know which side is which?
I once tried the cutting a condom method not the greatest thing same issues and the fact they try to conform to shape so roll in on themselves so not effective at all.
What they have done at my local clinic is increase stock of flavoured condoms. With the advise of if giving oral sex to men in clubs to use flavoured condoms with everyone participating. Due to the increase of syphilis and gnonorreah in the area.
Thankfully each are treatable. If youre an active swinger with many playmates advice is 6 weekly checks when you have sex with condoms.
When condoms break have to wait 2 weeks from exposure. Best bet is to abstain from sex for the 2 weeks to get tested.
Then again 6 weeks later if your results are negative and continue on a regime of checks depending on your requirements for testing.
As a swinger it's recommended to also have the hep b vaccine even if you use condoms and for men who have sex with other men the Hpv vaccine and if you partake in bareback sex take PrEP.
But for female oral sex when sexual health clinics don't take it serious enough to stock dental dams the risk is considered acceptably lower.
Take as much precautions as you can and checks to make sure youre std free.
Be completely honest with your sexual health services they don't judge (at least most don't in my experience) they are there to make sure youre healthy |
