"I have to know someone and know their take on the word for it to not be an automatic slur.
I can reclaim it, but I know most of the time it's meant to be insulting. "
Yes- this is my opinion on it too... |

"I’m not a fan. Much prefer and elegant but naughty woman"
Snap
I am not to be degraded (my thoughts on the word)
I am not ashamed to love sex but I am not being made to feel negative about it

Hate it.
In my teenage years it was only used as an insult.
That sticks for me.
Had a few messages with guys thinking they are chocolate using it as an endearment but to me it will always be a insult!

"being slutty is fine. Looking slutty isn’t.
Why can't people dress how they want to? "
They can. Just nobody wants to look like a slut out in public. We all have jobs etc. lol. |

For anyone who hasn’t read it, the first part of the Ethical Slut is a very interesting read.
About how there is no real male equivalent. The closest being “stud” but that is used with positive connotations.
“Oh look at that guy he’s such a stud”
“Oh look at that girl she’s such a slut”
They talk about reclaiming it, and while I do agree and in the right setting that’s all well and good, the sad fact is most people are using it offensively if they call you a slut. |

I don't know. I am frequently referred to as a slut.
I think it's more in how the word is used rather than the word itself. |

Exactly!
That’s why my first response was confirming most were linking it to a woman
No man on here was agreeing they were called it for sleeping with a few / lots of others
But are happy to call women it for the same reason
And it sadly has got negative connotations with it

Read the book. That is all about how we can reclaim the word to be a positive thing.
Slut is traditionally an insult aimed at females, although it’s definitely used to describe both sexes a lot more than it was.
I think as time has passed its used differently, but referring to a female as a slut has always, until more recently when many have started to reclaim the word, been considered a negative along the same lines as calling someone a whore. |

So much this!
If a young lad sleeps with lots of girls he’s a “proper lad”, a stud and is congratulated by his peers.
If a young girl does the same... she’s a slut! |

I love my wife to dress like a slut when we are out , and I can’t see what the fact that we all have jobs has to do with it .

It's a really interesting one for me. I describe myself as a slut. To me it means someone who loves sex and lots of it! I don't use it as a pejorative term. That being said, it's only one part of me...I'm also a mother, a professional, a fool! Being a slut doesn't define me, it's just one aspect of who I am.

A strange word, can be used as an insult, and more often than not is. Also can be used by a sexy woman to describe herself. Not a word that I would ever use. |

"Being called a dirty slut whilst getting fucked is a massive turn on for me "
My partner agrees, she loves it as I tell her I want to watch another guy make her cum as his dirty slut |

It’s really great to hear how many people use the word in an empowering way
I just can’t get my head around that to me it’s negative.
If someone associates me with the term or used it with me- it is negative- an insult.
But slowly I’m learning the opposite- or my mind is opening to the fact it doesn’t have to be
As men don’t always use it negatively and women don’t feel it as insulting
Thanks

Goddam being called slutty is a compliment. We got outed by some xxxx at our local pub and the barmaid called us perverts, I just stood up and said I will take that as a compliment. Then asked her if she would like to play. She turned bright red as the other customers had a little shneidy laugh at her. |

I don't like using it to describe a woman - I think it is judgemental. There isn't an equivalent term for men and I hate double standards. Why should a woman who is enthusiastic about sex be described as a slut? |

Context pps!
But if I‘m honest, I would use ‘slut’ as a term of disrespect. But ‘slutty’ is much more fluffy and I’d use it as a compliment for a really sexy lady who turned me on - for instance some of the gorgeous ladies on this thread notably including the OP. |

Who gives a monkeys bum what anyone else thinks if they want to stick a label on it.
When you're with the right people and having fun anyone should have right to be all the slut they want.
Definitely own it!
Selective sluts and loving it lol |
