What's everyone's view on this latest craze?

Serious money maker or just another scam?

There are opportunities if you mine, but investing can be a gamble.

I did ok a few years ago on Bitcoin but lost a little on another currency

Latest craze?

That ship sailed last year.

There’s probably still money to be made on it with frequent buying and selling. But the days where it was ultra volatile and made people a lot of money overnight are gone.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Heard of many success stories, always a friend of a friend who did well. Reminds me of the pyramid scams from a decade or so ago, very few benefitting whilst many lost out. Work hard and keep what you've got, we've done okay with this method.

Got a friend who missed the bit coin revolution but buys and trades in other similar currencies I'm tempted as he keeps raving about it but I'd like to see something more than a set of code for my 5k investment

Fluctuates too wildly for my liking. High profits sadly outweighed by high losses.

High Wycombe (ish)

Like anything else, invest only what you can afford to loose.

I'd suggest the huge percentage moves have gone now and the currency is getting less volotile (compared to previous moves). However, it's still an unstable and high risk currency (with potential big rewards or big losses).

If you're not really sure what it is, perhaps it's not the best asset for you to invest in?!

More curious than anything else. You hear so much about these kind of things but dont know what to believe.

"What's everyone's view on this latest craze?

This is the central problem with people and crypto. It was created as a form of currency which can be used for payment, not buying and just sitting on it. Not everyone can make money off it obviously.

That being said, as it is not a regulated asset, don't be surprised at pump and dump schemes. It is the wild west.

My problem with it, is that if I were in trouble, could I liquidate it. If I had gold, then that's something tangible. Bitcoin, it's just a line of computer coding.
