I don't trust any online storage, I use backup hard disks. They're cheap enough nowadays, and can't be hacked, they're not hooked up to a computer unless I'm backing up. |

Hard drive SSD is best. Otherwise order your self a server. Only 3.99 euro for a 500gb server, 4.99 for 1tb per month. Hosted in the Europe largest data centre in france. Very secure.
Then Set up so you can use as backup for all your data and much more. |

I doubt they really have any interest in people's private photos.

This is an interesting thread.
There appears to be a few answers here for different scenarios though. Namely;
1. Keeping “data” safe - from a loss of data point of view.
2. Keeping “intimate data” safe online
3. Keeping “intimate data” safe from other users of your personal devices.
So let me throw my opinions in here!
1. Massive subject but the main point is: Bloody do it! If you have a Mac or iPhone, just pay for iCloud storage. If not, use another service or buy a NAS (network hard drive that you keep in your house). This backs up stuff so if your computer breaks you still have your data.
2 and 3 go together sort of. There are services such as FileVault which do both cloud backup and password (or biometric) protection so friends or family using your device wont stumble across your jewelled ass pics!
You can also just use a NAS if you like with access to only you in an intimate folder and you and your partner can both contribute if this is what you want.
One issue I have is iCloud. The hidden folder isn’t protected. It’s also all to easy to photo each other and forget that these pictures are now on your Apple TV and may show up as a screen saver at the most inappropriate time! So for this, I suggest you and your partner get a cheap iPod (or android equivalent if you’re not worried about your privacy) and create a new and separate iCloud account specifically for filth! It will avoid accidental slideshows, kids finding stuff (as they won’t know you have the iPod and won’t know passcode as this should be different to your main device) and will keep all your filth together!
The biggest thing I can say though, is to encrypt all drives. Why? Let’s say you have filth on a USB stick and it falls out your bag. Someone picks it up and plugs it in to their computer. Bingo! They’re now looking at you and trying to figure out who you are to black-Mail you or stalk you! If the drive is encrypted, they can’t do a thing unless they have your password to decrypt, or are a very good hacker! This goes for all drives, even inside your laptop or desktop. If someone nicks your desktop, they don’t need a password to log into your account to see your files. They just boot up with a cd or plug your drive into their computer like it’s a USB stick. If it is encrypted then the same thing applies, the data is still secure even if it’s lost to you (but hopefully you backed it all up to your NAS which they didn’t nick!) Even if you don’t have filth, or care, you still have sensitive dat you should protect!
Hope this helps. |

If you have a Samsung then use 'Secure Folder' or Knox as it's also known. It's already on a Samsung phone. It's like a phone inside you phone, with it's own apps and gallery. So if you take pictures in the Secure folder then they stay in the secure folder gallery. It can be secured with its own password so basically invisible to some one who gained access to you phone. It also gets backed up to your Samsung account. |

Most storage services are encrypted...
Most you can even use your own encryption key...
And wtf so you think people are storing on there??

For me, Dropbox, Google Photos and Onedrive...
All depends on what kind of photos I am backing up.
Lol.
I did laugh when Google Photos assistant made a funny video with a cheerful tune of a gang bang...

True but I've noticed on my new phone if I shut and lock the secure app and check on my phone which pages are open it still shows fab and links back to the secure folder which isn't ideal

Oh... and for the love of everything holy...
Enable two factor authentication. 2FA.
Where you go to log in and it texts you or you have
It’s not like anyone here is famous and going to get gripped by the Fappening...
But it really makes getting hacked a challenge, or someone getting hold of your stuff without permission etc.
