Depends on context. Smiling pictures to sell yourself on a profile/ in messages is good advice.
Telling someone in public, particularly a stranger, that they look insufficiently decorative for you (by not smiling, by how they present themselves) is wrong. |

Not picking on the OP.. but.. Fucks sake! How many unwritten rules and hoops are us men expected to jump through?
Whilst most Couples and Females kick back and do a sum total of fuck all with their own profiles. Little, no, or negative profile text. Two to three pictures IF I'm lucky.
Zero truth or honesty from anyone till I've told you my real name, DOB, address, National Insurance Number, Blood Type and CRB Checked.
You know what men? Your profile is yours, how you behave on here is up to you. How you communicate, who you communicate with and whether you feel like smiling or not.. It's all up to you.
Be yourself..
Otherwise we're all going to end up gormless carbon copies of one another and still not get any meets.

You're right it isn't fair. I offer my take on these things to hopefully help people, not make them feel bad about it. (and I try not to be hypocritical, I put effort into my own profile) |
