Paragraphs...dead?

Just an observation really, and one that likely relates to the use of more, and more mobile devices to access sites like Fab. Probably also leading to the most popular status "Read the profile....".

I've noticed that in forum posts, profiles, almost anything with a bit of content, that paragraphs are appearing less and less, just blocks of text.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, yes old but I like to think I've up-to-date veiews, but I find text without paragraphs a lot harder to read, and follow.

You get lost in the content easier, and I usually feel the ability to carryon reading leaving my body.

anyone else feel the same, or notice this?

I bet you wondering how many paragraphs to put in this all the way through writing it!

Never mind paragraphs... punctuation would be nice!

Ahh never comment on that.

My Secondary Modern education didn't focus so much on these things. I know I'm terrible, so I ignore it when others make what, I think, are mistakes. lol

It's harder to judge in informal writing where paragraphs go. It flows more like speech.

Punctuation and spelling bother me more, although a wall of text is a challenge.

Like you op, I prefer paragraphs and get deterred from reading a tangled mass of words - especially when the presented layout is seemingly a mess and in disarray.

Even when I'm using my mobile, I aim to use paragraphs and it also helps my own thinking to be a little more structured - though perhaps some of my writing is a little in disarray too.

People always lean to an easier life. Society has become so familiar with quick text messages, they’ve forgotten how communication of the written word works.

I really don't care it doesn't matter to me ,if something is long winded and laborious it is just that and some profiles are just rants which defy reasoning and reading

I like to read profiles but if it's one solid block of text I rarely bother.

Mark Twain said that Americans only started a new paragraph when they went for a drink. Maybe same applies here?

I agree to a certain degree. But I do find my degrading eyesight copes better when there are paragraphs.

Anita gets quite annoyed by poorly written profiles and posts, but I personally just think when people type things on their phones they lose all awareness of layout, grammar and even complete words. I would guess that far less people type that way on a PC.

Exactly my initial point. And with more online activities taking place on mobile devices, styles of writing and layout will evolve and simply be adopted by default.
