Can I ask has anyone had a bad experience with fake profiles, and if they would mind sharing with us all? I'm new to this and wonder what I need to look out for... and what's the worst that can happen

There are shy people, fakes, people who are not interested in you and people not here to meet just for kicks.
Why what is your classification of a fake? |

A lot of the fake profiles we've come across are single men pretending to be couples

The worst that can happen doesn't bear thinking about, frankly.
Ask yourself if things they say add up. Give information or pictures when you feel you trust enough to risk that. Social first in a low risk place. |

I guess it encompasses all of those people really. Just those who are not on fb for the right reasons... Was just wondering what experiences people had of this

I've seen a surge in new profiles (female profiles, obviously) in searches that have been opened within 24 hours, have pretty high quality or professional profile pics (only 1 pic) and barely a line of text in the personal info section. Oh and no verifications and not photo verified. These are most likely fake so be aware. I'm not sure what the motive for creating profiles like this are. Is it to try and obtain personal information, photos etc? |

No she was from london and very pushy for more pics thought I would ask whether they had kik and she deleted her profile immediately l, maybe being a bit paranoid but it seemed very odd to open and close an account within a few hours |

If you think they are fake then why believe the location was genuine. Half the people on here alter their location to give more anonymity. |

"I suppose so maybe being paranoid, although we give out our real city location. Maybe we should change it. "
I don't think a larger city is that dangerous. My stated location is slightly off (within a few miles), and I live in the general Manchester area (I'm certainly not going to say I live in, say, Swinton. There's a club in Swinton which is why I picked that)
Be cautious about what pictures you send and to who, ditto your friend list. |

Oh, and a trick I heard. Keep your face or identifying features (scars, tattoos etc) separate from naughty pictures. If the pictures get out, yes that's your face, but someone might have nicked it. Or that's a naked body, but that could be anyone.
Reduces real life consequences. All of my naughty pictures are headless for this very reason. |

People forget tattoos on here they are almost as recognisable as a face photo I can understand while people are cautious but then at some point you have to see someone you may meet so at some point you have to show yourself. |

Oh definitely. But it is a question of timing, building trust etc. For me it's never immediately.
But the point is more, if someone sees your face picture on Fab and it's a vanilla face pic, that could have come from anywhere. (thinking more in the case of someone stealing your pictures) |

"Just block all the newbies like we have, its cut the problem down to about 10%"
Thinknyoubare right, although we are pretty new we got suckered in by some attention. Lesson learned. But all sexy pics are headless so a face pic could be taken from anywhere. |
