Because some men take a view on their profile as meaning the lady wants to fuck them and proceeds to message them.
I've seen how many messages some women get on here for that very reason, can run into hundreds. |

I look at profiles too out of curiosity, yeah you may get the odd knobhead but I haven't had nearly as much bother as you may think |

I would say the reams of unwanted messages we received before hiding our profile when looking, were more down to the sender's desperation and lack of common sense...neither of which is attractive!

because there are certain aspects of profiles that aren't immediately obvious unless you look such as the ages of both of a couple or their sexuality...then once you've looked and they're not for you, you don't require any correspondence from them. We used to get quite frequent messages along the lines of "See you've looked at our profile..." from people who don't quite get the message that if you've looked and moved on, you're not interested... |

I didn't know about the Ninja mode when I first joined.
Being the nosey cow I am, I look at a lot of profiles.
When in the forums, I'm curious about posters so I'll check them out.
When people appear on local updates, being nosey again.
I'd regularly then get messages from those people. Some lead to intresting conversations & a couple of meets, but the majority I had no interest in, but I was still polite back then, I'd sit there stressing over how to in the nicest way say, no thanks.
I had a serious case of fat fingers once, scrolling down my phone, accidently clicked on the last profile, I immediately clicked back didn't even look at the profile.
I did this several times.
He obviously took my repeated views as being intrested.
When I explained my error & apologised, I got a torrent of abuse!
I found out about going ninja shortly after that & I've been hiding ever since |

I think most people who get a lot of messages have worked out filters that suit them.
Do I let guys message me? Yes. Do I complain about my inbox? Yes. Does this mean I haven't thought about it? No.
I wish we could have a conversation about inbox management without someone saying that if you just try (usually obvious thing), the problem will be solved. In this case, ninja mode solves one of the issues for those who get a lot of messages. |

I once looked at a profile that piqued my interest. Read through it and it was clear I wouldn’t be what they were looking for so just ignored. Within 5 minutes I received a mesage basxially telling me I disgusted them and to never look at their profile again blah blah (you get the picture) so obviously I obliged by viewing every half hour or so until I got fed up. Funny though, they didn’t block me.... 
Anyway, I’ve now got my ninja mode turned on just for that very reason |

I know full well I ain’t gonna appeal to the vast majority, which is why I read profiles before deciding whether or not to message. It’s not exactly a difficult thing to do. Of course it’s frustrating to find someone who you fancy the pants off and read the profile to find you aren’t what they’re looking for but that’s life |

I get hundreds on a busy day. But most of them I choose to delete within seconds. I get more than I can reasonably handle. Using the filters that get me what I need. There are still downsides, which are mostly about people not treating me with respect. |
