i had a lecturer at college who said one day "Forget what you think you know,because its wrong"...so i'm asking because what i think soft swing is doesn't mean that its the right answer.

soft swing can be anything really, ive seen couples who say they are soft swingers but are after no contact with others at all just to stay with own partner while in same room with another couple having sex so they can just watch while playing
I think most people see it as penetrative sex with own partner only

Soft swing covers a wide range of play from Jack n Jilling, watching others at play as you play, to touching, feeling and oral (as mentioned above in others replies)

I think sometimes soft swing can be even better. I used to swing with a partner and whenever we did soft swing there was an element of 'naughtiness' that you were doing things with the other couple but saving penetrative sex for my partner. It's also a great way for new couples to get into this |

and i agree with you. if meeting as a single, then full sex does make sense as you are missing out on the 'ultimate' part of it, BUT as a 4 some, no one is really missing anything apart from sticking yourself into a strangers pussy. now, i really havent felt ANY difference between the vagina of any woman i have ever had sex with.

I'd like to thank everyone that posted some advice here. lots of similar stuff but also alots of different variations of "what softswing, is" or isn't to other people.
we thought it was simply playing with your own partner and the other couple watching and also just them playing together too.
we prefer to fully swing with other couples, seems less complicated somehow.
Moreover, i guess the best thing to do is communicate and make sure the boundaries are set, so that we all know, and the other couple knows how far things are likely to go.
