A swinging drama...

Although this is absolute gold, we will try & be a tad discrete in case any site members read this & think "That was us !"

A while back, Janet & I called into a pub for a last drink before setting off home.

We found a comfy couch close to a flickering fire in an alcove. There were 3 tables , one free, one seating another couple & we were sat at the other.

The couple smiled at us as we came in, Janet sat down & I went to the bar to get the drinks.

Having got the drinks, we settled on the couch & started yabbering away, oblivious to most of what was happening around us - not much as the pub was so quiet.

After a few minutes, another couple came in & sat at the free table. They got some drinks, made themselves comfortable & started to check out the other couple.

They then struck up a conversation &, within a couple of minutes, they had moved over to share their table.

A little while later Janet froze & a big, huge grin appeared on her face. She lent over & whispered to me "They are on a meet!".

I laughed & just thought she had her wires crossed & they'd turn out to be friends or something similar.

But now she had mentioned this, I started to pay attention.

The ladies were dressed very nicely in figure hugging trousers & blouses whilst the men were "smart casual".

I still wasn't convinced.

Then one of the ladies complimented the other on their "profile".

One of the guys said that they haven't "met many couples lately " cos they had been so busy.

We sank deeper into our couch, trying to be invisible.

There was laughter, the ladies were getting on fine & went outside for a cigarette, leaving the guys to have a bit of a manly chat thing.

Both couples got up & bought a round of drinks.

Then something changed.

The older couple out of the two had a coffee saying they needed to work early the next day...

Once they had d*unk their coffee (in record time it seemed) as quick as a flash, the older couple got up & put on their coats, made excuses & left the bar.

The other couple looked devastated, the lady kept saying to her partner "He didn't like me".

She became sniffly & tearful. Her partner comforted her, gave her a cuddle, put her coat on & walked her from the bar.

We've often sat in restaurants & bars & wondered if couples played & sometimes walked away thinking "Oh, yes" but have never been in this - almost surreal - setting.

The whole drama - from start to finish - took about an hour. We have spent longer talking about it on several occasions.

I work in a pub, and often play spot the swinger with the bar manager.

They don't know I'm a swinger myself, just think I'm really good at spotting them!!!

We have a code if I spot one, I start humming "swing low sweet chariot", and if he spots one he hums "King of the swingers".

"So....

The Devil tempted us but the two teenagers at home prevented it from happening.

Shame ..We could have posted a "consolation prize" follow up thread.

Southampton

it happens .not everyone will click and be everyones cup of tea(or coffee in their case) . could be numerous reasons why the cpl didnt wish to contiue meet further at that point . could be the cpl that left were still interested and mailed the cpl next day to arrange meet ! we will never know . but forany meet i have no exspectations and then if something comes from it its a bonus

If you're at a pub or cafe meet though, don't you just ramp up the convo a bit just to shock the earwiggers when you see em flapping and straining to hear the convo and nodding among theirselves - I know we do 0

We met a couple socially at a lunchtime a couple of years ago now. She was lovely and very discreet but everytime he opened his mouth to speak the whole place could hear. This wasn't good as it was a very popular place to eat and full at the time, not just with adults but children as well. It was also a place you got up and helped yourself so everytime he started I was off again, think I ate a weeks food in an hour, couldn't wait to get out of the place. They left the site shortly afterwards so we never did meet them again, thankfully

Just what we were thinking, it would have been rude not to.

It was funny now looking back on it, he reminded me of Richard Griffiths who played another vicar in The Vicar of Dibley, when he kept shouting I could just see his face!!! Wasn't pleased at the time though, wanted the ground to swallow me up lol.
