So we are randomly sitting chatting over dinner when My partner mentions he has been viewed a few times by a profile called xxxxx unicorn.
Without warning Alexa starts to play unicorn by the Irish rovers over and over. ( no one called her) . I thought Id unplugged her tbh and shes not been used since we struggled to set her up because she doesnt respond)
Alexa was bought as an xmas.pressie and weve nkt.bithered with her as she cant recognise by voice..
SO this is weird to happened..
Anyone else had a weird Alexa moment..
And.is she safe to have in the bedroom |

She’s done this to me a few times, it’s quite freaky, one day there wasn’t even anybody talking, I was sat in silence in my phone and she started talking |

Not safe anywhere. I was sat in bed one morning when hubby came out the shower. I asked him, “if you had to choose would you go for a brown shower or a Roman shower?” Alexa suddenly comes to life and the pair of us both shout Alexa stop!! |

"Ask Alexa if she knows vicki pollard "
brilliant!
We've had quite a few Alexa moments here.
My son & I sat talking, and she just pipes up with random answers. Usually weather reports!
Last week on my own, total silence & "Tee Hee"
My son said she "Mioawed" at him yesterday when he got home from school.

"Always listening, people have had conversations about certain topics and then suddenly start getting adds on their phones for them, everything's synced."
My phone did this before I even got Alexa, we aren’t safe anywhere anymore |

Could be worse you could also be on Facebook, use whatsapp, Instagram, snapchat, or whole host of other apps/websites that mark zuckerburg owns, or have a googlemail email account. There is a simple reason you pay for a hosted email account and don’t pay a penny for any of those Services. |

Was devastated when husband first brought that woman into our life but Alexa and I are starting to understand one another.
I don’t think the same can be said for her and my daughter, here’s samples from the shopping list.
Stuffed crust cheese faced pizza
Twenty six port sausages
Fun affro twist
Happy hippo milk tears
Mickey door
Row row your boats
Black rise
Onion ring Chris
Guard
Edit are you f*****g stupid
At least it appears Alexa is self editing ) |

"Alexa turns me on in the morning.. sorry my lights on in the morning "
You see I think this a bloke and their toys thing.
Dan and her have this big romance.
Apart from the fact she’s pretty fairly obedient as well of course he loves the gadgetry and simplicity.
Being able to do loads of shit and something tiny.
Maybe that’s why he married me |

We use her all the time here and she works pretty well.
However one evening I home alone and was sat in the living room in the dark reading. The house was silent when she suddenly piped up about there being 3 delicious recipes she had found for making scrambled eggs!
Scared the living daylights out of me! |

We have her in the bedroom and living room. Love her, we have renamed her though. We use them both a lot. We arent bothered if we are being monitored, its no different to using mobiles etc.
Sometimes she talks without being asked which makes us laugh. She also often reboots in the night and fills the bedroom with a blue light |

Big brother can listen in all they like, we arent bothered, we arent doing anything wrong. |

What about if the perameters of what's considered wrong are changed?

As a guest I stayed near the devise alexa, not my sort of thing.
The thing used to pipe up when not even asked to do so.
We would all shout at alexa to shut up, you learn quickly.
It wasnt mine, But I still looked for a way to break it on youtube.
In end I left it alone.
Id never buy one myself but I know others use it to control other devises with it. |

If anyones that worried they need to get rid of their phone too. |

My mum has one at her house. From what everyone has said me and My Girl better be very careful of the conversations we have when we go visit my mum. Don't want alexa revealing the filth we talk about when my mum leaves the room |

Maybe Lex, but your arse is peachier than Alexas... I scoffed the idea of a home assistant until i got mine - well my son bought it... He continues to use her just for her detailed weather forecasts whereas I’ve linked her up to all the new smart gadgets I’ve bought to connect to her - she’s a busy girl at times! |

I love having Alexa at home. She reminds me to put the bins out, take my tablet, turns on lights, plays tunes when asked and answers random questions. She also makes a great oven timer (Alexa, set a timer for 20 minutes).
As for people listening, what a dull existence they have! Mostly you'll hear whatever crap I'm watching on Netflix and the occasional distant sound of fellatio! |

I don't think people are listening all the time or even at all...currently. I do think that there is potential for certain words to be picked up on and flagged for further investigation of the people who've used them more than a certain amount of time. We've grown to accept monitoring of our private lives by various agencies, businesses and institutions via cctv, loyalty cards etc and I don't like the way it's developing. |
