I have no problem bringing a bottle of wine or buying a round of drinks for someone on a first meet...
I was wondering what fabbers experiences have been with excepting gifts from a potential new meet has been....
I honestly would feel funny excepting any gifts from a stranger because I know nothing in life is free , and if I don’t like them in person.. the situation might turn strange.... |

I've only ever been bought a birthday cake by someone I've met - he fed it to me in bed and made a bit of a mess
I must be going wrong as half the men don't even cough up towards the hotel room let alone turn up with even a bottle of water lol |

Never accept gift on meets, don’t know what’s in them (knock out drugs the ones you hear about, hidden cameras, tracking devices) and ladies if you’re reading this, if someone does offer you. Just say no.

I have never expected gifts, most guys will bring along a bottle of something in my experience, but I have also received flowers twice, chocolates and a nice bottle of champagne....
Yes a bit of a shock when someone turns up with flowers but a lovely gesture at the same time |

Not for me to criticise your choice of meets, but if you've booked a hotel it's just plain miserly to not contribute in some way. We all know the end result a (hopefully) good fuck. |

I’ve never received any gifts from a fab meet, social or otherwise but often they offer to pay for dinner/drinks which is always a lovely and appreciated gesture. On a first date yes I’ve had chocolates and flowers once which was fun as I didn’t really like him when I met him in person |

I had a social meet near my birthday and he brought me a bottle of pink gin and some chocolates.
Didn’t think it was creepy at all until he started thinking I was the ‘one’ and wanted a relationship! |

Someone brought along a new baby doll thing for me but grossly underestimated my size.
I don't like any one bringing anything especially for me.
Drinks are fine; I bring drinks and snacks myself. |

That more his fault then the gifts, again it all about getting that understanding and boundaries. |

If I'm visiting someone's house, even if it's my kids I don't walk with my two long hands (Jamaican for empty handed). I've bought a bottle of wine, and I've accepted the same.
The only time I've told a meet to do one was the married man who turned up with perfume and shampoo...his wife's brand, he wanted me to use so not to leave a scent trail. |

I had to re-read that and realised it’s the underwear not a doll |

"Id accept a Cadburys cream egg, just putting it out there for reference
That’s not really a gift
Its not? But why?
2 cream eggs or a bag of mini eggs?"
Has to be the full sized eggs, so I feel special |

I agree, if he hadn’t been so clingy it would have been a good gift. I still ate the chocolates though and shared the gin with my friend |

I like things we can share together. I often take treats we can enjoy together and they do too. It's its a fb or fwb I would give them small gifts if it's their birthday etc. I have had flowers given to me and I enjoy recieving treats but I would not accept anything of high monetary value |

I had an FB bring champagne for us to share and flowers on my birthday, that was nice. Lingerie would feel a bit creepy to me, unless I knew them very well.
I always buy coffee/drinks (or at least the first round!) on a social, unless they insist otherwise. Not having to travel is a great gift for me so I l do this in return |

I would never accept gifts from a meet, would never want anyone to feel that they may be owed something back. Plus It's weird to give someone a gift when you don't know them so it would put me off anyway.
If they had a bottle of alcohol, I'd maybe help them drink it but I don't see that as a gift as they would be welcome to drink mine, I always share. |

It depends who it is and also what the gift is.
If I was meeting someone for the first time I wouldn't expect anything but I wouldn't be offended with a bottle of something. But if it was first meeting someone turned up with lingerie that would put me right off. |

Yes and I don't necessarily see that as a gift, it's like if somebody comes to my house and I make some a coffee that's not a gift it's sharing and making someone feel welcome and comfortable. |

A guy I met for the first time quite a while back now gave me a new toy as he was leaving - kind of unexpected and a little weird accepting it if I’m honest.
One guy also had a stash of apples in his hotel room and casually offered me an apple. Would have preferred chocolate but hey haha
Do not expect any sort of gift though- just would never turn down chocolate |

I invited a vegan girl over to my place once and she turned up with a tub of coconut oil....
I thought it was strange, until she told me most lubes are silicon based and coconut oil is better for your body......
I must say the smell of condom lube and coconut oil was a unique smell in my bedroom... |

I have always paid for a hotel room in full if one has been required and if an all nighter dinner as well as breakfast.
If going to someones home ,wine or flowers are the norm. |

Unsolicited gifts is one thing, but many profiles on site ask for generous men and other such blatant requests for offers.
I remember talking to one lady who would not meet unless you had ordered her gifts from Amazon.. just last week one of her veries was there on the profile admiring they had bought the said gift.
Glad to see there are some decent sorts her and to be honest I find the forum tends to attract the genuine types and is a great place to identify honest and decent fun seekers rather than those motivated by greed. |

A man i met on the last site i was on bought me a mobile phone camera tripod on our first meet. That took the wind out of my sails and i felt awkward as i’d not gotten anything for him.
I’ve not had any other gifts. Not even a packet of Skittles.
I’m not one for flowers (if any future meets read this) or hand cream. Other than that i’m easy. |

I recall a single female being booted off a site for making the same demands. It's akin to prostitution. |

Hasn't bothered me. Don'tget why i would feel awkward just because someone enjoys(or thinks it polite) to bring gifts. I'm not obligated to anyone and you could always refuse the gift if you wanted to. |

Yeah that's against fab rules and she could be banned.
Nope, even men not going half's on hotel rooms or paying for my drinks I kinda feel awkward with. I want to pay my way, I don't expect it and we both use the room so I feel it should be fair and equal.
Same with offering things like lingerie, I really feel uncomfortable with it. I mean it's different if you are dating a person but on here I feel like this could be used against you if the meet didn't go well or you fell out.
I guess I feel like I owe the person something in return and some might even use the fact they've bought you gifts off a list to pester you. |

I'm a gifter. Not necessarily a gift for people I meet, however I'm a considerate and thoughtful person.
I like people to know they're appreciated and sometimes I gift.
A gift could be as simple as a thank you card, a handwritten note, or a picture taken just for them.
I don't give to receive so I wouldn't be creeped out by someone gifting in my direction, I'd tend to think of them as thoughtful, unless of course they seemed a creepy person, in which case I'd not be hanging around.
Not everyone and everything has sinister undertones.

Does a blow up bed, pump and a huge bottle of lube, count as gifts?, for when a meet wanted to "get slippy"...thankfully he was outbid on the suitcase generator and bouncy castle, on ebay, to take the idea into the outback of who knows where

gifts give the giver more of a sense of entitlement to most not all just most. |

I have accepted tasty food treats as gifts. Chocolate always goes well as part of dessert. It all depends on how long you been in contact. The rapport you have built up. So you know it's all intended in good nature.
Sometimes you may have discussed something in conversation and that may spark a surprise funny gift. Just laugh about it after. Nothing wrong with gifts folks. |

Had similar on our couples profile, a lady we got chatting to and hubby was going to meet then said she was after a Rich sugar daddy! We pissed ourselves laughing. We ain’t rich and he’s not sugar. When we explained we were poor she blocked us. We then found out via another couple on here that she was an escort. |

Blimey! My idea of a gift like a funny card or a book won't go well to the ones looking for "rich" people
I have never come across any couples or single women asking me for anything. The only time I can remember a woman years back asked me to pay for the entrance fee to an event and drinks because apparently she was skint. I declined, went alone and met friends there. |

Many moons ago when I was on here as a single female, I was given a packet of jelly babies. It had been a bit of a joke about how I could chew their heads off without getting fired! I also gifted a ladybird book along the same lines. So nothing expensive, just a bit of shared humour x |
