Here's a question
If we have a tick box on our profiles saying wheither we will or wont meet smokers why dont we have the same one for drinker?
All we have is a selection box saying how much we drink. Double standard? Yes or no? |

Not really? Why's it a double standard? I think it's widely accepted that most people will drink on occasion and that the non drinkers are a small group, in my opinion.
On top of that smoking isn't exactly attractive and the smell can be a complete turn off so clearly some people won't want to meet smokers.
For someone to say they will not meet anyone who drinks.... well in my opinion they'd be hard pushed to find many people who never have a drink now and again |

Seriously, some people go out of there wasy to find issues that really don;t exist.
It is obvious why the site and people differentiate between the 2.
If you donlt want to meet drinkers state it on your profile or don't meet in a pub - sutrely it's that simple?

How's it a double standard??? It would be a double standard if you said on your profile that you will meet smokers but you will not kiss them but you will non smokers, for example.
To not meet smokers is just a choice. Just like not meeting anyone that's bi or someone of the same sex etc. |

Is drinking attractive when somebody is yelling europe at the toilet bowl or when you go to kiss them you get this cloud of booze stench hit you in the face? Yea smoking smells but so does someone who stinks of booze. Also why should we accept drinking cause most people do it? Would you accept it if most people dropped trouser and did a big hairy turd in the street?
Oh god sounds like I'm defending smokers, am really not am just showing the other side of the argument. |

Which is exactly why you have a choice in the drop down box! People can then make an informed choice! Some people will not be comfortable with meeting someone who drinks regularly and vice versa. Hense the choice none, social or regular drinker. As for someone being excesively d*unk, no it's not attractive but then I think it's safe to say that no one on this site would entertain the idea of meeting someon in such a state. And if they did turn up "well oiled" and acting like that I'm sure they'd be told where to go! |

And to answer your question about the turd in the street. If it was a done thing in society then probably yea cause I would have been brought up to see that as the norm. It did used to happen and still does in some countries. If it happened now then clearly now because it's not the way of society.
Also as already stated by someone. Unless you've d*unk copious amounts (which I've already talked about) then you'd have to be dowsed in the stuff to be reaking of it. Nothing a couple of breath mints won't help. Where as breath mints don't quite cut it for smoking because you're clothes and body are poluted with the smell |

Actually it's not a bad idea. I will not play with people who drink excessively before wanting to play and I find the smell of alcohol on some ones breath a distinct turn off. |

Which is a fair comment but then how do you communicate that in a drop down box? Cause you're still going to meet people who drink aren't you? That's why it needs to be communicated on your profile. Just like some people will meet smokers but communicate on their profile that they will not be able to smoke in their house or would prefer if they refrained from smoking just prior to a meet.
How many people would really make use of a "Will not meet anyone who drinks"? Not a lot and I'd be willing to put money on that! Like I said earlier if you put that on your profile you are drasticaly going to reduce your chances of a meet.
Of course you might not like the smell of drink so put it on your profile don't turn up pissed |

Putting that on your profile world be seen as being negative and judgemental though by some on here, much like putting No time wasters, No dirty smelly people etc.
Actually putting preferences and personal choices on your profile apparently makes you look like an arse, even if the smell of bad B.O makes you physically heave.
Seems as though the only way to truly find out of you're compatible is to message someone and hope for a reply, but don't bitch about it if you get bob all back or randomly ignored at any point. |

If her breath stank of booze, yes. If she had to be wankered to play, yes.
I'm not desperate for a shag to have to compromise on my own standards. |

Why is it double standards. Im a smoker, simple.Do i drink then the answer is not so simple, i drink a couple of times a year and when i do i have a good blow out. People who see me then will think im a piss head. The fact is i dont drink for the other 364 years aday. |

If she was a heavy drinker, stank of booze or was completely pissed yes I would. No matter how sexy she was. Same if she was a really heavy smoker. I am not against drinking or smoking but if it's to an excessive amount on either I'm just not going there. Honestly though I have met with women who have got more and more pissed as the nights gone on and I got out of there. It's not attractive and quite insulting. |
