"Meet Today" Tag/Icon

This I find a bit of a conundrum. You have some free time on your hands, and you hope to find some company, so you make yourself available (ofcourse whilst exploring options like contacts already made, or having a smile in the chat room).

The idea being anyone else that is in similar circumstance, hopefully if you both seem to match or like each other, would want to meet up with you.

Herein lies the problem - I've never had a meet as a result of (responding to, or, advertising myself via) the MEET TODAY tag.

Do people see a profile marked "Meet Today" and think "Desperate for a shag" and move on? A bit catch-22 ??

We had a free weekend and saw a couple local to us with the meet today tag,I sent them a quick message,had a quick chat on msn

we met them the next night and they are now really good friends and we have seen them a few times

So it can work,I don't see it as desparate but I do wonder at how some people have it on their profile constantly

How do they have the time

You can search for only members showing 'meet today' in any chosen area. That's proved petty useful

We've also put 'meet today' on ourselves a few times and pretty much always it has the desired result

As far as I can tell some people just keep themselves on there constantly, always seems to be the same people, and if I've ever messaged someone on there they don't tend to be looking for instant fun.

Perhaps there should be a 'Meet real soon' section as well?

well we have put it up a few times and got no results, and, have contaced people with them on as we were free and avlbe and looknig to meet, and got no reply at all from quite a few. we tend to message others and follow up on favs, or on people that message us or wink. x

Ive used it a few times but only to meet up at short notice with pple I have already either met before or 'vetted'.

Ive been able to meet, theyve been able to meet....has worked ok.

we have tried but no luck,but eh its a good way for ppl to see ur profile without going throu the search browse so it gets u out there heheh

yep ,,, its been good for me ,,, i guess working shifts and odd hours dont help to have long pre planned meets ,, so i guess it suits me fine ,, but it is true ,, some folks i think are on it permanently ,,, i go on it when i actually want to meet ,, lol

We've used it occasionaly with mixed results but it's like anything else, it's a great tool (sorry) but can't guarantee that someone you fancy will respond - or vise versa - Handu if you have an unexpected free night with nothing planned!

i made the suggestion to admin that a different system is used.

Red Flag=meet today

Amber Flag=meet this weekend

Green Flag=meet this week

Not heard anything about it though! It was annoying (when on as a single guy) when you would see Meet Today and they were looking for a specific day or other time.

Have had 2 very successful meets from Meet Today lists, so have to say it works as far as I am concerned

With us its simple we feel, if we put that sign up, then were available and hoping someone or lots of someones lol, is goig to message us interested in meeting up, no messing no wasting time, simple, message, hi on the phone ,sort time out etc and place, MEET ! simpples.. surely it should be a good and quick way to let everyone know your up for it tonight. We dont have a lot of time for endless chat on line we are busy people, with kids and work etc, and ,we only get the odd day here or there, so we use it to our advantage as much as poss, does it work?..well not yet for us, but I really hope now on people know thats how we use it. big kisses, ours wil lbe up again soon lol.

I think if they have the tag on their profile every day, or very regularly I would say yes, desparate, but not so if its only dislayed occasionally. Problem is if you display it you usually get responses from people who you are not interested in
