An academic has said that any old sayings relating to animals will die out to avoid offence. Taking the bull by the horns, killing two birds with one stone, bringing home the bacon etc. Instead of more than one way to skin a rabbit it could be more than one way to peel a potato.
Is this good or bad ? |

Or people just talking shit to stir people up?! I won't change the way I talk and will pass those strange little phrases on to my granddaughter too... There are plenty around these days that have not grasped these things anyway and say them incorrectly... Some are already incorrect through people doing that for a very long time... Language changes, I am not keen on some of the new crap so I don't use it... But if my language ever offends anyone then they can take it up with me and I will pit them straight |

I will just continue to speak the same way and if people don't like it then hopefully they won't talk to me
It's a process of eliminating ridiculous people from your life

"What are the two ways to skin a potato... I can only think of peeling?
"
Scraping, though think thats only with new ones or the tumbling about in a water sprayed drum which has rough surfaces as they have in chippies..
Or is that grating.. |

Eventually he will be right, there will come a point where the planet won’t be able to sustain all the people on it being meat eaters. We will have moved to other sources of animal protein before that though.
It’s looking likely the best way to produce this is by substituting mammal protein with that of invertebrates. It’s something that the populations of the Far East already do. We will most likely start to see it in highly processed meats first like chicken nuggets or sausages.
So expressions like more that one way to skin a cockroach
Or grab the horned bettle by the horns my become common place |
