Messages of appreciation - yay or nay?

I was thinking about a bit of Fab etiquette and wondered what people think.

Sometimes when I'm browsing the site I see pictures of people who live nowhere near me that I really like, or who have said something on their profile that I really agree with. Now, obviously I can Fab their pictures but sometimes I feel like just sending someone a message telling them how much I admire their pictures or agree with them, even though there's no chance of meeting.

Is that something you would appreciate if someone took the time to do, or would you just consider it a waste of your time and a pointless message filling up your Inbox?

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Some people do bit sometimes.

Sometimes it still means "wanna fuck"

And sometimes it's taken that way whether meant or not.

Do what works for you. Worst case scenario is that someone you never expected to meet blocks you.

I think it’s a lovely thing to do and I try to do something similar. There will always be those who find it hard to accept a genuine compliment but I feel good for having done something nice for someone else.

Wouldn’t it be a nicer world if we could all be pleasant to each other and share the love? Please don’t stop OP Xx

That's a lovely way of looking at it.

This happens to us quite a lot. We always thank the person and sometimes have quite a nice chat, often over many months. About one in ten of the people who message that way go on, after about two messages, to say they will be in our area overnight soon

.

It's something I do/would appreciate but more often than not it's another line. If genuinely meant with ulterior motives it's really lovely to read.

I think it's a lovely message to receive & am always flattered.

I've made a few friends who I chat to that way, we know we'll never get the chance to actually meet.

N loves compliments on her pics regardless of whether there is any chance of meeting. Just a nice thing to hear.

Well, you have some lovely pictures - and I have no plans to be in your area so please accept the genuine compliment

I (MiissV) do most of the messaging from our profile. If I see someone, say another female, who is really hot, then I will message them to tell them. Doesn’t matter that we will probably never meet, just think it’s nice to let them know.

Same if I’ve read something on the forums that makes me want to reach out to that person.

I’ll always make it clear that there’s no ulterior motive and I don’t expect them to respond.

Mostly they do which is lovely.

I greatly admire your taste in lingerie.

And looking at her pics I'm sure she gets a *lot* of compliments

I think it's good. Great to receive and to me, it means I'm getting something right

Can't see anything wrong with it myself. As others have said, it's a nice thing to do and one way of being able to pass on or offer a compliment to someone you may not otherwise meet. In some cases it's not even about thinking of a meet sometime down the road - it's just a way of offering some encouragemnt and nice words to someone. I will message people this way and there have been several that have accepted the message as it is intended and been polite enough to reply. SOme lovely conmversations after that but no expectation of anything else.

Genuine comments/compliments, either about pictures or opinions, are always nice to receive. I never Fab pics but I do send a random message to someone far away if something about their profile has caught my eye or imagination. Don't see the harm in that.

I have sent quite a few complimentary messages to people, I get some nice replies. You also get them deleted, and occasionally blocked.

Agreed

Basically I have given up doing it

Get a few single guys doing it but as you say they mean ‘wanna fuck’ usually
