I highly recommend it. They are so nice and helpful and non-judgemental. They just want to make a sale at the end of the day. I ended up spending over £100 after the nice lady gave me a makeover. You can book one for a quiet time of the day or just go to a different town if you're worried about seeing people it know.

Go to Benefit or Debenhams or any department store.

They are really helpful and non judgey.

The Indian lady that threads my eyebrows in Debenhams always has a big queue of men and women - she doesn't bat an eye.

+1 for just do it.

MAC are great.

Do it midweek daytime as it will be quieter and you will get more time.

I think the deal with some is that you pay for the makeover but it is refunded against any purchases made.
