Makes sense. Being Americans we have been surprised and a bit let down with “king size” over here. I guess your kings were only little chaps after all.
We love living here but do still get caught out once in a while with a stupid American question... obviously |

No x. A queen is a small double- about 6" narrower than an average double. A king is bigger than a double - longer and wider- and then a super-king is biggest standard (spot who's currently bed shopping!!)
I also spend far too many nights a year in US hotels - a U.K. Super king is still only a US cal king in dimensions I'm afraid |

I stayed in Penrith and found myself in an enormous room with a bed so big I did not know which way to lie in it lol |
