People posting pics of themselves, taking pics of themselves...
Jump to: Newest in thread
We find it a bit worrying when we see profile pictures of people taking pics of themselves in a mirror, especially when they're supposed to be a couple.
Now it's not expected that everyone turns out a portfolio of professional photographs but even mobile phones have a timer thing on them. Considering that your pics supposed to be the 'shop window' of your profile? Just a thought |

Can't explain the couples bit, but some profilers i suppose use it as a way of masking their facial features...its an ok practice nowt wrong with it especially |

Taking pics in a mirror has advantages, I know how to use a camera and there are positive effect of using a mirror for those who don't know a great deal about camera's
Apart from it been easier and it helps frame a picture and add some interest, it also due to the scattering effect of light it can give picture more of an orange glow sometimes, and it can have an air brushing effect on the skin making it look more regular and softer
Also some people like the look of themselves in when it's taken from a mirror, because it does look a bit different to str8 from a cam because no1 is symmetrical and you do look a little different even if you can't figure out what it is |

i love playing with the cam...after work, kids and private snuggle time the last thing i want to suggest to kev is that he start taking pics...
Most my "mirror" pics are taken to please Sir at work...they just get put up here cos i think they turned out well. |

I completely agree with you! It's not about planning it, just do it and if you get a nice photographic result, use it! That's how most of my best pics have come about |

"i took my own picture because i don't have anyone else to! i don't think it's too bad"
I'm surprised you haven't had loads of offers to take the photos, so I'll offer,......
But more seriously, I totally agree with you, when I'm thinking about taking photos I'm on my own. When I'm with someone who could take the photo I'm definitely not thinking about photos!
Perhaps we could help each other; he says rather cheekily!

Just a thought, do you know how difficult it is to set up camera on timer to get that perfect shot, run round in front of camera strike the pose you want....... and keep a hard on! Lol

Occasionally when I am in mood and home alone, I will fiddle about with the camera and take pics of myself to show MrB when he gets home.
Some of them I have been really pleased with and they have been uploaded onto here. |

I take my pictures myself because I won't let anyone else take photographs of me. I set up my kit myself and I am alone when I do it. I never want an audience.
The reason for this is that I have my own unique way of taking the photograph and the image I want to achieve. My OH does not share the same interest in the type of image I like, he prefers to leave me to it |

Infact it don't even have a timer!
Could try taping it the wall and push the button from afar with a long stick....would be much easier if someone else did it for me though :D |

Its the couples profiles with pics like this that get me!
Why cant they take one of each other?
Understandable on singles profiles....
I took mine myself and there is not a mirror in sight (yeah, I know you cant see them just now) lol |

Couldn't agree more!!! I always take my pics myself and i know exactly what i want to achieve. I do use a mirror and i've had no complaints so far infact quite the opposite so for me it works well!!! My camera does have a good zoom lens tho lol...also have a smile feature for taking pics...but seriously it the pics are clear and not out of focus wheres the harm in taking them yourself!!!!!

Because if you don't play by the rules set out by people with 'perfect' profiles you become a worry to them.
So no posing in front of mirrors with a mobile phone and especially if you are part of a couple - you are not allowed to take a picture of yourself if you are. Oh and ensure there are equal amounts of pics of both the couple in public just so nosy gits can look at them even I'd they have no intention of meeting.
If you break these rules and do not have a profile just like these perfect people then you are highly suspicious and to be treated with extreme caution.
Ill stick to being a worry to people and do things my own way thanks |

I think I see your point there, if one half of the couple has done it why can the other not do the same and as you say, there are timers on phones and cameras too.
For me though, I've few photographs on my profile as I hate being photographed, am hopeless with a camera and I did lose a load from my old pc otherwise I would have more. And finding someone who is quite happy to take photos and be trusted enough to send them to you, makes things harder hence the rope ones are only a couple of months old.
Also for those of us single, some of us are hopeless at photography and I have had my camera about 6 years but only found out in the summer of this year, that it had a timer on it |
