Was reading an article which stated the average length of a marriage in Uk is 11.5 years,
So how long have you couples been together and have you or do you think you'll outlast that average
.
Just so you know, married 23 years and together for over 25 here lol |

The stats I've seen say that divorce peaks are at 2 , 5 and 8 years. If you get past 8 years then the 42% overall divorce rates drops below 10%.
5 years here and plain sailing with the wind behind our backs. |

5 years together and a little over 3 years married - most of it miserable - before I got out.
I look at my parents' 43 years and do feel sad but it's more acceptable for people to leave an unhappy situation these days. It's not lightly taken, whatever people may think. |

Been together 40 years, married 37. Both still happy (I think) Just had our very first swap, just wished we had done it years ago. Not that there is anything wrong with our marriage, just found more fun to make us even happier. |

served 16 years for my sins and did 10 of those as a virtual monk. Now free, the amazingness of Fab and another site is helping towards making up for all those lost years! |

Managed just over 9 yrs I think then met J been together 11 years but not married
Unfortunately marriage / divorce doesn’t favour the Male in the equation of assets
I understand many won’t agree but that’s my personal opinion |

My personal opinion is that men are insane if they get married without a prenup these days |

It depends entirely on who earns the most, who stays in the marital home, who has responsibility for the kids. In my case, all three; so I had to pay the bastard thousands to be rid of him. Unfair, as the divorce was his fault! |

Totally agree although pre nups are not totally legal in the eyes of the Judge they do hold more weight nowadays from my understanding that is of course
I the Male half put down a considerable deposit on our new home and whilst J contributed as well
I was adamant that we had a deed of trust drawn up showing both of our interests / percentages in our new home so god forbid our relationship ends I know my original contribution will come back to me then the balance / equity split 50/50
I friend didn’t do the above and 3 months after adding his partner onto the morgatge their relationship ended and he’s out of pocket by £80 k
Not a great thing for him |

Great posts everyone, some fantastically long relationships, some obviously still in the honeymoon phase lol, some sad ones too and there's a story behind every post I'm sure |

First divorce cost 230k. Even though she had the affair and decided to move lover in. (She turned gay!)
Second one is at 120k and rising..
No kids together, but wants over a grand a month in spousal maintenance.
So barristers will have a field day, im sure
She isn’t happy with a mortgage free house (worth 100k) a car worth 12k and circa 10k in cash.
I still have my health and sense of humour
Dont get me started on the cost of divorces...
