Pet hates!

My absolute pet hate is this new way the younger generation have of typing messages. I say younger generation and I cringe because by god I'm not that old! But the younger 20 somethings are def making me feel that way, i'm continually having to scrutinise a message to understand what they are actually trying to say. it's like typing in code! The boys cut out the vowels from words and the girls add loads of extra consonants willy nilly, what's happening to our beautiful english language?? Sets my teeth on edge it really does.
Hi bb u wnt a fck... I mean really, how much longer would have it took you to write out all of that crap sentence.
OK, rant over, so what your pet hates about the messages you get?

Pet hates?
- Being called "hun", "flower" etc...
- Being sent messages clearly showing the sender has not bothered to read profile
- Poor English ( I dont have a problem with dyslexic people just those who use text speak)
- Cut n Pastes
- Impatient pushy people

Even thought I'm in the younger half of the 20s, text speak really does my head in!
Being called babe is HORRIBLE!
Oh, and people sending me messages telling me my boobs are amazing. Do you think I don't know that? I play with them every day!!!

oh no shortening of words and acronyms don't bother me, hell we've done that for centuries. It's missing out vowels, and add extra letters where not necessary that's my pet hate. That's the thing that's only just started to happen in our language and it's just since texting has become more important than talking. |

My pet hate is when i get grouped by a condesending older person into " the younger generation" who clearly are just the uneducated in society... i have had messages from 50+ men in the same style of "txt spk" its not just people in their 20's and i prefer to actually send a fully legible message via both text and mail on fab... as i have said in previous posts i do say LOL and i do shorten you to u occasionally but i find it totally condescending that you think because im in my 20's i cant gather together a selection of consonants and vowels to scrape together a few words and form a sentence.
and my other pet hate when receiving messages is people that constantly use my name.. in every other sentence... |

OK... hang on a minute. Uneducated in society? I'm 35!!.. have a 17 & a 15 yr to catch me up all the latest developments if I ever find my old age getting in the way of educating me about "your" world. That I find highly condescending!! Just because we are older doesn't mean to say we don't know how the world works, and it doesn't mean to say we have to frigging like how society is changing either!!
Yes it was a generalisation based on age, because like it or not it's your age group that started it, it certainly wasn't us "oldies"!!.. but where did I say that 20 something's are too stupid to gather a few vowels together? The fact is most choose not too. I didn't advise on them stopping, simply venting my frustration on the loss of the english language.
It's a pity you took it as a personal dig.

i wasnt saying **you** were uneducated but that the people who type like that are uneducated.. before you start getting all offended and actually it would have been the people in their 30's that invented text speak because they were old enough to have mobile phones when you were only able to send 20 characters per text which is where text speak came from.... so think before you start blaming an age group or generation for creating something!

Oh and fyi my partner is 31.. i don't think 35 is old infact i wouldn't say anyone was old.. because its just rude.. your as young as you feel inside.. just incase you were feeling insecure about me feeling you were an "oldie" i don't think you are... so please don't imply that i was saying you were |

I wouldn't have dared suggest that the generation up from us, who had won a war for our freedom, were uneducated in society because they didn't like the way us younger ones did things, and trust me, we heard them complain ALL THE TIME!
When I was 20 I didn't text like that, nor did any of my friends. Nor do any of my friends of my age group text like that now. Yet my daughter does, all her friends do, my sister in law does who is 23 and all her friends do. Don't pin this on us, I was there at the time lol
On a last note, I'm not ranting to fall out with anyone but try and back me in a corner and I'll come out fighting!

A major pet hate of recent is the amount of fake pics being uploaded on this site. It's pityful that there are some who pass themselves off as someone else, then go on to try to push the issue that they are 'genuine' the mind boggles!! |

We had that a while back. Played for a guy on cam that had sent this pic of himself. We went out the next night to meet a gay friend in the pink scene and as soon as we walked in one of his friends started getting all jumpy and blushing furiously, when introduced he couldn't even look us in the eye and nearly went purple though blushing. He was like that all night. We didn't know him from adam so we'd wondered how we'd manage to offend him.
It wasn't till we got back home and logged onto the computer that we realised why. There was a full email confession that he'd sent out a picture of his boyfriend and sorry that he's been acting weird all night but it actually been him that we had been camming to all night.
He had been apparently praying all night that his boyfriend didn't come out and us blow the fact that he was secretly watching couples on cam.
The thing was we liked his personality, not his pic, and although he wasn't as good looking as his boyfriend we would have cammed for him anyway because he was funny and charming. |
