I never meet without a quick hello phone call...
It can be “ Hey I am real person “ then we can text to finalize plans and establish boundaries...
Being a New Yorker, why would someone visiting from the UK be afraid to give a phone number before a meet?

I hate giving out my phone number, so many potential ways of finding out further information from it and I'm generally not a fan of chatting on the phone. I find it awkward and I'm not sure what it proves other than I'm a woman. I have veris and can send you a camera pic on Kik to do that.
Maybe I'm just contrary but not a fan of being made to jump through hoops, if I've been chatting and click I'd rather arrange a quick coffee and know someone is who they portray themselves as for sure. |

I once made the mistake of going on a meet without speaking to the person first and it was a no show . I wouldn't do it again. A chat over the phone or its a no go . |

I really fail to see the logic in this statement.
Why would saying hi on the phone guarantee they will show up to a meet?
I don't jump through hoops for anyone and I find it intrusive for anyone to expect to speak to me on the phone. |

I used to give out my number, so someone could text me when they arrived at the pub or wherever. Not anymore though. I had some disturbing messages and when I done a bit of investigation that no was linked to a Facebook account. Anyway it turned out it was a man I'd met 18 months earlier for coffee!!!
Chatting on here or kik is fine for me. |

We are not here to prove we are real, don't give out our phone numbers anymore and certainly don't provide wank chat (yes it has happened. There are lines for that). If people don"t like. Great block us. We are incompatable. |

If a guy can't be bothered to meet for a quick drink first (daytime whilst they're probably already out in town, lunch break, walking the dog or wherever), then fair enough but I'll soon find someone else on here who will.
I make the effort to travel to the guy at my expense and fuel. I buy my own drink too and at times if the guy isn't already there, I'll buy his drink too.
I will never give my number to any man on a site like this before meeting in person. There's kik etc to converse with before meeting. Kik even does free video chat. So no excuses to not like it.
Phone numbers can trace a person's Facebook and other social media. Not to mention a person's address if the other person is computer savvy. Why would I risk that happening to me? I may as well go hand my number to some random guy I pass on the street! Amounts to the same as handing my number to a guy on here.
I live alone with my children. I value their safety and mine. I will not risk any guy having my personal info before I've met him. I've had guys on this site and others threaten me. I've had guys in the past from a different site send abuse and mind games to me via my old number (when I was naive enough to give it out). Never again! Shouldn't have to block anyone nor with old numbers. So no, I will never hand my number out before meeting. Kik is a god send. |

We've never spoken on the phone before a meet, it's not important to us, all meets showed up. Always arrange via fab but will take it to whattsapp closer to the date and only my (his) number, never Mrs is given. |
