Has the concept of a sexy female body changed?

Ok I’m knocking on a bit and can remember the days when a lot of women aspired to a slim body, little bum etc. It seems now that curves and a “bubble butt” are now in fashion.

What changed and why?

I must admit my personal preference has also altered but I’m not even sure why, obviously being in love with a curvy woman has something to do with it, but I now find myself with a completely different taste to what I did 20 years ago.

Curvy women have always been popular. Fat women also. Obese not until recently, and even now there is still that stigma attached for many people although this is not as bad as it was.

Look at actual couples you grew up with, family couple, friends couples, hardly anyone you knew actually fitted the 'attractive' stereotypes seen in the media and the news.

People are a lot larger overall now that's all.

Nothing changed, you just got older and therefore the types of messaging you’re hearing is changing too.

The majority of guys under 25 still want slim and athletic women. Even most guys aged 25-35 would still prefer athletic and slim with big tits.

But as you (I mean “you” as in “everyone”) get older, you become more open minded, more realistic and less fussy.

I think the obsession with "bubble butts" probably has something to do with the rise of fitness culture and the Instagram generation.

Not that I'm complaining of course

Not really. Everybody has their type and will be attracted to that type. Couples will generally be attracted to other couples similar in looks and body shape to themselves. The fact that there's so many single guys on here looking for an easy Shag means that ordinary preferences and types aren't always followed.

Always preferred the slimmer woman, I have had a couple of offers from women with fuller figures but I just don’t find them attractive. I have always had these feelings and I think it very unlikely I’ll change....

I think I’ve actually got more picky as I’ve got older to be honest. I used to just be interested in collecting notches on my bedstead, I wasn’t even sure what I wanted from a woman. Now I find a woman attractive for more reasons than just how she looks .

The Land that time forgot (Norfolk)

I don't think anything has really changed. I think the majority of men have always appreciated some curves but the image the media have pushed of the ideal female figure just hasn't always followed that.

Do you have statistics to back this up or is this in your opinion? If it is, it isn’t a fact.

People of all ages like different things and I’d say I’ve come across more younger guys being more flexible on their types than I have older men.

If you look at the history of what body shapes are desirable you'll see see that what is desirable in terms of body shape is constantly changing with time and also with culture. Its nothing new.

What about the 1920s when flat ironing board figure was very much the trend?

I’ve thought for a while that body shape fashion has changed. I put it down to Jennifer Lopez, the Kardashians and the American mainstream embracing Latina and other non-white body shapes and cultures where there is more emphasis on curves and booty.

Well it’s like the ‘pink pound’ isn’t it, except we aren’t as wealthy because of all the cake and chips we have to buy.

North Notts

Everyone’s perception although very individual is built from reality. The reality we live in is suffering a major obesity problem.

Sex is a primal instinct and though we do it for fun as well as reproduction we are wired to not be so picky that we rule out our chances entirely

The obvious mechanism we have to do this the ability to go with the flow and alter opinion and or preference.

That’s my logic at least

Everyone has their own particular tastes however, a woman (or indeed anyone)will always be sexiest when they are happy and self confident in how they look.

Just my humble opinion - not that I can carry it off personally, prone to many a neurosis

That was because everyone was starving.

But that was the look that was desired. Are you suggesting as a hypothesis (as another poster above did) that sexual desire moves to favour that biggest supply? I did read that the UK was the fatest nation in Western Europe. Although I always thought it was the opposite, that there was a desire for rarer looking women. But then I always wondered for example are so many men who have gay sex in prison naturally gay or bisexual outside or have they adapted their sexual preference purely based on avalibilty to feed a hunger for sex? The desire to have sex is a strong one. One thing fab has taught me is that some men with jump through hoops and move goal posts just to get laid.
