Thinking about this purely from the perspective of avoiding pregnancy, do you rely on just one form of contraception when swinging?
Condoms are pretty damned good at stopping unwanted pregnancies and are readily available, but do women use complimentary methods as well, whether that be the pill, IUS, IUD, Dutch cap (do women still use those?), etc... in addition to rubber johnnies? |

Condoms and depo injection.
I used to be very, very paranoid about getting pregnant, but I'm not so bad now. Now I can rely on just the injection and condoms, before I used to have a stash of the morning after pill too, which I took if a condom happened to break. |

Well my OH has had a vasectomy and I have the Mirena coil. I didnt really need the coil for contraception, but I wanted it to stop my periods, which it has done, so it enables me to go to clubs and parties whenever I want to |

im on the depo injection which is great cause i havnt had a period in over 10 years lol
id never just rely just on condoms, ive never had one split on my but i have on a couple of occasions been playing with a guy and when hes pulled out the condoms been left inside me, accidents happen, theres nothing you can do about accidents but best to cover yourself just incase, if someting like that happens and your unlucky enough to catch a STI two weeks of antibiotice and your clear, getting pregnant isnt as easy to make go away |

"The Triple Crown
Sterilised, Mirena Coil and a rubber
same here"
just out of interest, and this is a genuine question as im intrigued, but what reason do you have to make a doctor put you in a coil when you have been sterilised?
when i was a couple i went to the doc to get family planning and he refused me as my then hubby had had the snip, i had to tell him what we did to get him to give me anything
so i cant imagine why a doc would put a coil into a woman who had been sterilised |

I can't speak for the other poster, but Mirena coils are often used to help manage troublesome periods...they can often become heavier after sterilisation |

The Mirena coil is to lessen Tra's horrendous periods. |

That's what we used to call "West country birth control" "
Us Cumbrians say "One in the bum, no harm done!"

they all work different on different people
as i have said i went on the depo injection 10 years ago and never had a period, i get a tiny bit if light spotting sometimes a couple of days before my next injection is due, and thats not every time, but soon as i have the injection it stops
however my daughter went on the depo and had a period for 11 weeks solid, she started bleeding just after her first injection and when she went for her next she was still bleeding so the took her off it |

I was on that one, my periods were so irregular it was untrue. Never knew when I was going to be on at all. Could never plan fun, so I went back on Depo, and no periods!!! |

Hysterectomy here, so condoms are just for playing.
(And to one of the above posters, it depends on how you have your op done (also age and other things) as to recovery - I was driving (and having sex) 3 weeks after having mine) |

This topic comes in really handy as I think I have been through almost all options of contraception. I always use condoms but am a firm believer in Double Dutch. (Not the rope skipping, one;) Don't really know what to try next.
My personal experience:
- The pill (Not an option. I'm too scatty)
- The Nuvaring (Causes insane periods)
- The Coil (After twenty minutes with my legs in the air and excruciating pain the GP announced I have a 'tilted uterus ' which makes it impossible to have a coil.)
- The injection (was lovely but after a year it turned me into a frigid, moody cow)
