As a female cpl we are now actively looking for a donor. Here's a question for the men. How do you feel about sperm donation? Is it really possible to donate and just forget about the child? Would you want a potential child to come find you when they're older? My mind is just boggling.

I'd say most sperm donations by guys are probably under the premise that they stay annonymous.
Unless your talking about knowing who your sperm donation is from?
If so I would say me personally i wouldn't want any future contact. Be a bit of a shock ?? |

I would do it if I was assured that I would never be contacted afterwards. I know that feels a bit cold, but I actually think I would prefer not to know even if it worked. |

Im a active sperm donor, have been donating since i was about 17, im still located on most donor sites, however i dont message people, only if they message me now as moved location with less time now.
If you need some advise or help please message, am happy to help.
For me i usually opt for no communication until 18, or small updates only, also consider no communication however i do give them my details in case of emergency |

I’ve been wanting to donate for a few years, I would more then happily do it without any second thoughts too, if he or she came looking for me in the future then that’s okay, I’d welcome them with open arms lol |

Yes I wouldn't have any issue at all, and have done for a childless couple many years ago. As long as the people were normal then I think moving on and forgetting is by far the best thing to do.
And I also have a daughter that I am extremely close to from my first marriage, so it isn't a lack of care or desire, just right time and place. |

"If donating through sperm bank is it not the same as egg donation? .... as in when I donated eggs I was told I can be anonymous until any offspring turn 18 then they can look? "
So what would you do if they turned up on your doorstep at 18? You’re only the donor, would you have feelings for them? |

I suppose if they did search for you they would know where they come from and the background etc |

its human nature to want to know where we come from. i think for a donor to stay anonymous is cruel to the child, who will find out and will try to track you (the donor) down. |

I understand but what about the donor, they may not want an 18 year old walking into their life, they may already have a family unit. Imagine the upheaval. What about inheritance etc. It’s all to be thought through before donor stage. Maybe I’m just too practical. |

If this is the only way for you to have a child it needs to be done in the correct way via a specialist clinic.
There are legalities which need to be followed for the child and the doner.

yeah well i guess thats the thing with donation. dont do it unless you are prepared for a visitor in 18 years time and if they do visit. dont be a dick about it |

I would sit down and discuss it but if the couple want no involvement from me that could be something I would consider |

When I did it I filled in Abit about me and my character and hobbies so at 18 they can relate to it if find out from egg donor .. why not help people if you can |

My only concern is inbreeding.
I know it might sound silly but if a guy is donating regularly and is producing many offspring over the years, is there not a chance that this could happen?
We are all more upwardly mobile these days so that could add to the possibility.
I moved over 100 miles away from where I was born and I've bumped into so many people from where I was born. I even worked for someone who was born in the same hospital. |

The key thing you might want to screen a potential diner for is hereditary desease so there are no nasty surprises in the future.
As a male I would want to be totally anonymous. |

I’m only guessing from where you’ve posted this that you mean a more physical donation... if so, the anonymity has gone. Thoughts can change over the ensuing years. |

As an ff couple I assume (and could be wrong) that you are looking for the semen in a vessel and syringe insemination method. There are men out there who will, as a nice thing to do to help make a family. |
