We had 6 couples say yes to meeting as a group at a club, two cancelled due to time of month, other 4 didn't show up and not a word since. We still had fun though |

We had to cancel a meet before due to child needs I would hate to feel like I had let people down but we would always let on. But for a club meet I guess people would think well they would still have fun if we couldn't get there. |

"snip

hence the reason for organising it at a club, but 6 couple cancellations and no shows = the max we could comfortably accommodate if we held a house party 12 people horizontal takes quite some space
Don’t have a problem with the two couples that cancelled, they did give a couple of day’s notice and that’s fine, others won’t be invited again though!

"Parties are horrendous to organise, even small ones. Best to invite more than required initially. "
I wanted to post this yesterday but thought better of it. But, I'm fully loaded after supping a bottle or two of red so here goes.
Organised party, sent out invites for three weeks hence and had what we thought was plenty of interest. After two weeks I had to start saying sorry but we are full. With 26 couples as confirmed, 10 couples as maybees and 5 single ladies I thought that even with a 30% drop out rate we would have 20ish couples and a few single ladies. Yes our house is big and we bought it especially to entertain in. So imagine our disappointment when only 13 couples turned up. Incidentally all of the single ladies turned up. Only one of the couples that didn't make it has mailed us to say sorry.
I'm not so much annoyed with the food and drink we got in to cater for people, nor am I miffed at all the hard work we do to prep the house. What pisses me of is the seaming contempt that some people have for those that go out of their way to try and give people a good time.
To think that I turned good friends away makes me sooooo bloody mad.
