Tired of meeting crazy single women, I've hung up my dating boots for a while. As part of this I just called off my last date saying I'm having a break from dating. She replied in typical crazy single woman form by explaining that she was going to cancel anyway as she's going to meet an *amazing* man she thinks who she's going to have *anazing* sex with she reckons. I simply replied "good for you".

Obviously this was some dumb attempt to try and make me think I'm missing out on something. Quite the reverse. I'm now even more glad I cancelled. But it got me thinking... has that ever worked? So here's my question...

Has anyone *ever* responded to a "no thanks" from you in such a way as you changed your mind and decided to meet them after all?

Sort of. The classier someone is with rejection then the more likely we are to reconsider. Sometimes circumstances change but most people prefer to burn their bridges.

True. My LTP has twice said maybe it's time to call it a day. Both times I said ok and both times he changed his mind.

The key thing I try to remember is that if I am rejecting them in the first place there is usually a reason... if this hasn’t changed then my mind shouldn’t...

I’m adult enough to know everyone has different tastes and that I won’t be for everyone so take rejection graciously without becoming an arse.

But I also have my OWN standards, and if I’m not good enough for anyone originally I certainly won’t be going back if they decide they’ve “reconsidered”. One chance!

When i started on this a guy suggested always politely turning down the offer of the first meeting, even if interested.

Nothing major, just that you aren't available that day, or you'd prefer to chat a little first.

The ammount of people that turn into banshees or abusive, nasty pieces of work is staggering.

(It helps out the people you would want to avoid.)

It has meant i've missed out on a few good offers, (some people block so that they don't bother you again) Others block, because how dare you not be available for them at the drop of a hat, as they are much much better than you are, etc.

Now i've put it down here, i'll probably regret it...

p.s. it's not just single guys that get abusive either...

POF guy - my alarm bells rang but i ignored them thinking perhaps it was just misinterpreting text communication, so gave him benefit of the doubt. I shall never ignore those alarm bells again

Grovelling please! I have more decency than to whinge

I turned down a date... not a social. Dating is super easy. Meeting someone off here for a 2 second handshake is like trying to rob Fort Knox. Hmm... is that whingeing?

I deleted my POF profile because of the crazies

How can a whole group of people be so boring yet so mental at the same time?

I'm not sure that Fab is much better -but at least most of the men are already attached so you know they're not women repelers

The men on POF that were interested in me usually had pics of themselves holding a fish wearing a Hiviz vest

Then get all defensive when you don't reply to their message that says ..

"hi"

Bombard you with messages whining about rejection and then start being abusive - with far more words than the original "hi" message.

Erm .... OK

Maybe you lack the experience or maturity to see it from a couples perspective. Sometimes we only want to meet other couples, other times we are open to single guys. It can be more about timing than the person.

Definitely with you on that one broken. Works for single women too. No reply or "no thanks" are definite indicators of non interest. But a "I can't make it today" can often be exactly that. Any way around it. There's no point being a tit with people who can't or don't want to meet

So I kind of have.

Given a no reply is no thanks I ignored a message from someone I then fell in love with after he messaged me twice and we eventually met.

He is now an ex and turned out to be a bit of a cunt though so I can’t say it was a good decision. Spidey senses are always right.

Yes, that’ll probably be it, it’ll just be my immaturity or inexperience .

But maybe it depends on the nature of the rejection - if it’s a ‘we’re looking for couples right now but we’ll keep you in mind for future meets when we’re looking for single males’ then yes, I can respect your point.

But if it’s a ‘thanks but you’re not our type’ initial rejection then my (albeit immature / inexperienced) point remains.

My self respect and confidence in myself is sufficient that I don’t need to be a ‘second choice Charlie’ and jump at the beck and call of indecisive couples.

Whilst i understand it may be frustrating being at the end of a waiting list for a couple, it's simple supply and demand.

There are a lot fewer couples than there are single men. (Even fewer single women)

You really have to stand out if you want their attention, and be willing to be more accomodating to them.

Couples can get hundreds of messages a day from single guys, (mostly asking if they are ok, saying hi, or asking for a blowjob or quick fuck) the subject has been covered intensely in other posts. It is unrealistic to expect responses to every messsage you send. It's just basic numbers.

There is however couples who take the piss, but you'll get that anywhere.

No point in being annoyed by it, just accept the "no" and move on.
