I just got back in from helping an 85 year old woman. The boiler lost pressure. due to a slight leak on a rad valved. Re-pressurised .... sorted. heating back on.

if the prv blows when system is hot it will be a perforated expansion vessel the big red thing it has a rubber diaphragm in it compressed air one side system water the other its there to take up the expansion of the heating system water when hot if the its perforated it has no way of absorbing expansion and the prv blows.
