Just a thought. Is fabbing someones pic just a new way of winking? Do people respond as in the same way, as if they had been winked at? Or do you just take it as an appreciation of your pic?

We seem to be one of the few who like winks and we do also like the new fabbing feature but have not used it in the same way as we do with the winks
Although saying that Alice does love the thought of others looking at her pics and taking the time to show how much they like a pic and we could see us responding to a particular fabber if she liked the person or persons who fab'd her |

we've not yet opted out of Fab'ing but rarely look (and then only click on any couple profiles who have Fab'd) ...
but have blocked a few over zealous fabbers single males to remove our pics from their wank bank |

Winks - Don't respond to winks as very rarely check them. Don't send them out either.
Fabbed Photos - If I see a good photo that I like, then will fab it. It's not because I want to meet them (ok occasionally it is lol)
When others fab ours just see it as sign of appreciation, nothing else.

We use wink if we see a profile and pics we like and would like to chat more and meet.
Fab'd several pics too but cos we appreciate the pic not necessarily because we want to meet them. Saying that though, most of fab pics are single bi-females LOL |

It's a good question by the op - only just realised we've been fab'd!
We like the winks - seems like a simple way of saying "I'm looking and like your profile wink back if you feel the same. " as for the fab'd pics I think we see it as just a compliment on the pic.... However it is a good starting topic if you want to contact the person.
On the flip side just because someone's fab'd a photo doesn't mean they want to hop into bed with you. We've had it where we've commented on someone's forum post or clicked on someone's profile and within minutes had emails asking if we want to meet up 
So I suppose, like the winks there will be people who love them or hate them. 
Personally, we like the ensued compliment.
