Shaved my ass smooth tonight for the first time and oh my does it feel and look great! 
Definitely keeping it smooth going forward, now I'm thinking is it better to get waxed next time?

And then you need to keep scrubbing with a god damn nail file to stop ingrowing hairs which turn into boils.
