What the hell is all that about?
I'm sick of reading people's profiles to then see the same 18 or so bullshit lines at the end about them not having the right etc etc..
1. Does anyone really think they (whoever they might be) actually look?
2. If they did, do you think they would immediately cease looking once they read that on your profile?
Come on, smell the coffee guys...
Peace and love...

Really, I can't see how that works?
...if someone has a Sydney disclaimer on their profile, then you can discount them, based on their stupidity... "

Ah I see..in thought you meant you had it on yours and it automatically blocked the drongers. What you do is look at their profiles and immediately discount if it's on theirs.. Cool xxx |

It's like when friends on Facebook share those "We're giving away a BMW X5" posts...
Some people are less internet savvy than others.
I wouldn't use it as a reason to block them. |

It’s a very silly thing to put. But we’ve known some decent fun intelligent people on the swing scene who use the disclaimer, so I don’t see the point in filtering them out.

Exactly. To be fair, it has does highlight the fact the there are institutions (and others) snooping on the site and gathering god knows how much data and photos.
So while the disclaimer itself is meaningless, it serves as a warning. |

From a discussion on the same topic a year ago (not my post):
.
"I have posted about this so many times.
It was a social experiment that started in Adult Match Maker in the early 2000's. It was to see how many people were gullible enough to copy the disclaimer to their own profiles. Like any Internet Virus or Work, it quickly spread to Adult Friend Finder and many other sites.
Sydney University has no interest in swingers profiles or photos. Doesn't harvest them and has not desire to really look. There is no research being done, otherwise it's been going on for nearly 20 years.
However, to prove social manipulation, google searches are done to consolidate the number of swingers that paste the disclaimer on their profile. Many profiles are indexed by search sites.
Over 15 years, its' been easy to map the propagation and stupidity of people to add things to their profile that they never queried and simply put on because some else did.
But like when a company says 'Sorry we can't tell you because of the data protection act' - ask them if they've read it! Most haven't and it's nonsense.
Strangely my Ex has the disclaimer on her profile and SHE went to Sydney University! She knows better! Specially as we use to run one of the first every swingers web sites more than 15 years ago.
*shakes head*
Get rid of the disclaimer, it's only making your profiles EASY to find via google.
I'm not even going to explain how to search using a paraphrase from the disclaimer and any series of common sex words to locate people, profiles and pictures.
Why make it easy for people?"
.
If you think it’s a ‘warning’, then you’re wrong. It doesn’t warn anybody about anything, except that you don’t understand Article 8. |

I tend to think that if someone posts a so-called legal warning about their photos, they must be really quite worried about their photos being stolen and published elsewhere. But if they are worried such that they feel they must post such a warning, surely it would be safer not to post photos in the first place. I mean just in case someone decides to ignore the warning, which is kind of a risk. Our view is that if one posts photos on a public website, they might end up somewhere else. One of ours ended up on someone’s Twitter page. I treated it as a compliment that a photo with me in it was worth nicking!

Can you imagine if they ever did find the person that stole their pics and going to court and saying.. Dear judge this dirty scoundrel stole our cock and fanny pics..throw the book at him ..plus the cost of actually taking somebody to court and paying a solicitor..they just don't think it through when they post it |

"The "legal disclaimer" is pointless nonsense and all does is take up extra space on our servers. Please remove it if you have it on your profile."
The official FAB stance. I'd agree it's a good filter... one on the grounds of lack of intelligence, two they haven't made the effort to read the site rules and FAQs. |

Apparently their gender studies programme is very good. Other than that I've got nothing. |

... Other than, yes I've read the post and the FAQ and I know it's crap.
I have connections with the University of Sydney and I think it's hysterical. |

It's not just the Sydney University one, all the others are pointless as well. The nonsense about prosecution if you use my photos, the European directive one, there are loads of variations, each one as pointless and lacking any factual understanding of how the Internet works.
I've pointed it out to a few people directly, and they get very defensive, sometimes rude, sometimes saying things like, "well I'll leave it on there just in case" etc.
If you post photos of yourself on a website, you don't own it, and give up all rights to that photo, end of story.

"It's funny what we get irrate over at times."
I don't get irate, but if you mean peoples response to being told it's pointless, then yes, totally!
People are very possessive over their online presence (rightly so) but lack the knowledge that all your online media is owned by someone else. Even your work email for example is company property, not yours. |

Yep, that happens a lot too. Everyone online believes they're right about every subject - we're all experts. This forum is a perfect example of that.
Opinions are one thing, facts are quite another. Unfortunately a lot of people struggle with the difference between the two concepts! |

I had no idea poor people wore clogs - are you making this up? I've been to the job centre and I didn't see anyone wearing clogs - same outside Primark (I would never go in) |
