So, my pet hate:
Hello I am xxxx and I have hand penned this response after browsing your beautiful photographs etc etc...
You read paragraphs of slushy, non personalised and open ended statements with a slight sense of deja-vu only to get to the end of the message to note the exact same message was sent 6 weeks previously...
Anyone else get these, anyone actually like them? |

I get them sometimes but they don't bother me. Most people delete messages without replying so I can't see why anyone would waste time writing a personalised message. |

The *only* messages I've ever replied to - with a view to continuing the conversation (as opposed to a no thanks) have been personalised ones. Those which show they've actually read my profile and are genuinely trying to engage with *me* (instead of any old female).
There's no chance I'll ever reply to an obvious cut and paste job so they're surely far more likely to be a waste of time?! |

There's a bloke out there who clearly has 2 pre-typed messages; one tailored to a couple that says in a very generic way that he loved reading their profile and had lovely pics and would they be interested in meeting for a chat, all the usual stuff with none of the exciting juicy seductive text that is often enjoyable. The other is clearly tailored to a single female and says the same, but with a list of his interests like it's a dating site, also stressing his loyalty and that he abhors cheating in any form...
Except he sent us the wrong one by mistake! Given our profile, yes, we chuckled... |

I always write a personalised message.
If you haven’t got time or can’t be bothered sending a message that is personal, then how can you expect someone to want to respond to you.
So what if some get deleted...it’s minutes of my time but could lead to hours of fun. |

I don't mind getting them and I don't blame any man for doing it. Most women delete without reading or replying so they are wasting their time writing a personalised message to everyone. |

If they’re going for the scattergun fishing approach then I can see why someone would copy paste, they’d lose the will to live writing individual messages for them to be left unread / deleted.

Messages like that make me laugh, I mean come on guys be original read the woman’s profile, have a coffee while your sat there thinking the best way to answer questions they may have asked on there page, it’s not hard.
But put some effort in |

OK we are new here and can only say what we think as we aren't in the forum clique.
Personally I (Jen) would hate to be a single male on this site. They get vilified on the forums so no wonder they just drop a pebble and hope a ripple comes their way. Some of the look at me posters are constantly attacking single males. |

Guys always use the excuse it’s because it’s just deleted so no point putting effort in but if it is personalised I always respond even if it’s a no thank you. I would never reply to a copy and pasted message, I like to meet guys who want to meet me because they’ve seen something interesting in my profile not just playing the numbers game.
I’ve had dozens of profiles over the years and see the repeated offenders over and over, funny thing is when I tell them that and they try to make out it’s personlised, I’m not thick you know! |

We've had a few messages from one profile that was just their entire bio copied and pasted as a message. It felt almost like receiving political party spam They sent it to us three times over the course of a year before we blocked them. |

These threads seem to crop up regularly.
The point is this as a single guy:
You can type lots and get no reply.
You can type a little, and get no reply.
You can type a personalised message and get no reply.
You can send a cut and paste and get no reply.
So you can see why people don't go to the trouble of typing out a personalised message, because it gets them nowhere, and what they type will be 99% the same as the cut and paste. |

I have never copied and pasted a message. But I have to admit when I have spent a good 20 mins typing out a well thought out message, Only for them to not even bother look at it and just delete it is a bit soul destroying. but I know I am 1 of 100,000 guys on this site trying to grab attention. So if my quirky message title doesn't catch their eye then I just need to move on. |

The ones that say you have great pics and I loved your profile when I’ve removed all the information are the best. I often reply with what did you find most interesting then I either get blocked or they try to talk their way out of it, but I never give a second chance to someone who sends pasted messages as I feel they are just looking for a shag and not a serious swinger. |

I got one a few weeks ago & called him out for sending copy & paste messages. He responded with outrage that I could possibly think it was C&P and how he never does that.
About 3 weeks later I got exactly the same message from him. It showed below in my messages, along with his assertion that he never does it. I screenshot it & sent it back to him as a direct photo.
Funnily enough, not heard from him since |

Because it’s a handful that do it - why block every guy when it’s only the idiots we want to avoid.
And no one is kicking the single male
They are kicking the single males who think it’s ok to copy & paste a generic message in the hopes of getting an easy shag
So if you don’t C&P messages, then this is in defence of the guys like you!
And if you do C&P messages ... don’t!! |

And maybe by bringing it to the forum some of the offenders will see it and realise what a pointless exercise it is and change their ways?
As a male with a single profile I didn't see this thread as male bashing at all more a discussion on a recurrent experience that people have |

I doubt it too - but if just one of them changes their ways as a result it will have been worth it surely?
The point is it's an open forum and people are entitled to post what they want, within site rules, and this was by no means a "man bashing" thread as you suggested |

This sums it up pretty well. I think most people don't mind the copy paste itself, it's the reaction from the guys when you turn them down because of the lack of effort, which isn't really a massive turn on.

That's terrible if your fat and ugly I have a cock bigger than Ron Jeremy's,
Having said that some guy's unfortunately don't take a no very well, I have a friend and a few years ago she got quite a nice message from a guy who was 10 years older than what she was looking for, she simply replied with
" thanks for your message but unfortunately your quite a bit older than the age that I'm looking for so I won't be interested in meeting with you"
She got a response back from the guy saying thanks for the message But you're quite a bit fatter than girl's that I normally go for so if I can lower my standard why can't you!

I like the fact you admit it... And actually a bit of personalisation is a good thing, I think that removes my gripe in the main.
For me it's all about Being relevant, original, insightful... I guess that's what I look for in a message and a one size fits all framework just isn't going to cut it. I do also hate it when people deny it's a c&p even though its in your inbox from a few weeks ago etc |

I really don't rate that argument...
Effectively I am a single guy, in fact as a tgirl I reckon there's fewer people on fab searching for me compared to single guys... So lets call me an unpopular single guy.
For me: if you read and relate to profiles, communicate in a non weird thoughtful manner then 9/10 times you get a decent reply at least x

Maybe because the part that's readable before opening the message screams C&P?
Like we said earlier, when a message begins "love your photo's" we know full well it's a C&P and they've not looked at our profile. |

"I get them sometimes but they don't bother me.
There's no chance I'll ever reply to an obvious cut and paste job so they're surely far more likely to be a waste of time?!"
That’s assuming that there is something on profiles to engage with lol |

"I don't mind getting them and I don't blame any man for doing it. Most women delete without reading or replying so they are wasting their time writing a personalised message to everyone. "
