Given that the biggest barriers to this lovely lifestyle that throw spanners in the works frequently when arranging meets are working hours and family illnesses, it caused us to wonder; How come this site isn't rammed with swingers aged over 60?
Only their parents are often deceased, kids are in the prime of life therefore don't get ill as much, grandkids aren't their responsibility?
To top this off they often work fewer hours AND they were often young free-thinking adults in the flower power free love explosion?
So logically this site should be absolutely rammed with them. But they don't seem overrepresented at all? Strange as for us once we hit this age and work and family cease to be a barrier we intend to absolutely fill our boots?
So where are they all? |

I know of quite a few people around my age who can't use the internet, and I,'ve heard quite a few people 50ish say they don't want to use it. I get asked by my neighbours to do stuff for them on my internet. Some of it is attitude, they don't want to learn it. Also most of my female friends, most younger than me, are no longer interested in sex. I,m 54 XXX |

"Id say most 60+ people dont use technology as much as younger people so probs dont know this website exists and are more weary of sites such as this.
yeah true, 60 is ancient, when you're 21! "
i knew it sounded patronising coming from a 21 year old but its true. Its the reason the BBC got rid of BBC3 rather than BBC4 despite 3 getting more views. They put 3 online because it was judged that if they put 4 on then the older audience wouldnt adapt to it due to not being use to going online. I aint judging, i understand but its just the most likely answer. |

"So where are they all? "
Having lived through the 'Swinging Sixties' they are probably laughing their arses off, at the generations who think that they invented sex, whilst rutting themselves senseless on the way to the nursing home.
Not long and we'll be there too BTW. |

Bloody good chance many of the older generation are out there having a whale of a time, including still having sex, in the real world spending your generation's unearned inheritance thanks to equity release.
So it was definitely patronising.
Check our profile. We haven't given up yet and both have a background in technology, engineering and computers reaching back to probably when your daddy was just a nipper.
Check out whose generation built the groundworks for the technology most of yours takes for granted while being unable to explain how it works.

It gets harder than easier to meet at 60 or over |

Yeah fair enough theres plenty of 60+ year olds who know how to use technology and this site. I wasnt saying there weren't. There is also alot of people who didnt grow up with the internet and dont use it alot compared to say a 30 year old and so i cant imagine theyre gonna suddenly be jumping online to find stranger to bang. If they were swinging before theyre probably going by the older safer methods like clubs.
Who contributed to modern technology is irrelevent and i dont really get what it has to do with my answer. I also never said there werent older swingers cus there defo are. And thats inheritance comment is also just pointless. From a 21 year old to a 60 year old. Grow up. |

Steady with the come backs!
A lot of people of our generation don't know how to use the net. I know someone in her mid sixties who writes a note and gets her husband to scan it and email it.
Your original statement had some truth to it. Of all over sixties far fewer will be using the net than all under sixties. |

No idea why the over 60 age group is under represented. However I would say that it's more difficult to set up meets and I agree that if everyone was truthful about their age the proportion of over sixties might increase significantly |

Plenty of us over 60 men if you look. The problem I have is potential play mates have blocked messages from people of my age. Including several contributors to this thread. |

Touched a nerve on you did we with your smartymouth "grow up" answer?
You don't get what most of my answer has to do with your question because you were being patronising and demonstrating the ignorance of yoof.
When you grow up, in whatever number of years it takes, go back and read my answer again and you'll find out why you failed to see how it fits with your question.
Here's a simple explanation to keep you going in the meantime:
1)The group of people who are active swingers in the population is small,
2) The group of older people who do not engage with technology at all is relatively small (most surveys put it at around 10% of the population) and many of those are well into their 70s and above so not too likely to contain a vast number of actual swingers).
3)Of the other groups in the 60+ range many have better/other things to do with their time and if they are into the swinging lifestyle have already established their contacts and routes to fun.
As many of those in that group are also part of the group who contributed to making this technology work they already use it in many cases and if they needed contacts from here (or similar sites) would be found using it similarly if they needed to. |

Ref the generalities abounding re this subject of who uses the internet by age group:
A google search "internet users in the UK" will take you to the ONS (Office for National Statistics) site where the percentage of users by age group will become much clearer, rather than being based on a "couple of people I know". |

1. Fair point i agree
2. You're meant to reference statistics cus with respect that could be made up. It also doesn't specify what technology classes as. Could be as simple as using a mobile never mind going on the internet.
3. Yeah i said they might use other pre internet methods like clubs and as you said already established contacts.
FYI none of that was in your original response. |

I'm sure there are many reasons but general disinterest in sex isn't one of them.
I expect many are in settled relationships having experienced a freer lifestyle in the past. Less use of technology to meet others is probably another.
I think the notion that only younger people have good sex or are worth having sex with is very wide of the mark too. My experience is that it only gets better with age ... perhaps because you can only really begin to understand what it's all about with experience.
It's a shame that when we're young we dismiss the older generation not realising what we're missing or can learn. We all do it, myself included and only realise when we get older ourselves! |

Fair do's you referenced it but it doesnt specify how they actually use the internet and how frequently. A person who uses the internet frequently and for a wider variety of uses is more likely to venture onto swinging and riskier sites than to say check their email. |

There are lots of places in every town where retirees can go during the day to meet members of the opposite sex face-to-face, without any of this website dating nonsense. Tea dances are good examples.Oldies don't NEED the internet to get dates!
We should also take into account the fact that many older people today are infirm, with heart and joint conditions that preclude sex. |

I am one of the well over 60's. Part of my job is using IT etc. a lot of my work friends ask me to sort their computer problems out. Back to this site which i have been on for a lot of years. Once over 55, you do not get many replies etc. Yes females most do better than males for the normal reasons. |

One thing not mentioned yet: many over-60s I know have a fair bit of their time taken up with grandchild-minding in the daytimes. Also quite a few have adult children living with them, which must be restricting if they want to accommodate for evening meets. Many over-60s have caught up with making full use of the internet, mobile phones etc. They just needed more time. |

I'm now in my early sixties and computer literate, as are most of my friends, and the internet has been part of my life since it was introduced so probably have more experience than a lot of fabswingers users, plus I can still get it up lol. |

I think there are a lot more 60+ out there playing than you would think, and many of them still very attractive, present company excepted. I am as horny now as I was in my teens and early twenties, but am now a far more accomplished lover than then. In the last 2 years, i.e. since hitting 60, I have met couples ranging from early forties to late sixties, and have seen a young American lady in her thirties a few times whilst on holiday. 60+ is certainly not the end of fun times I am hoping to carry on for at least the next 20 years. Then I really will be a dirty old bastard. |

"Because a lot of people don't find 60+ year olds physically attractive. Not even 60+ year olds"
Don't know about that as a quick look at a few profiles shows that most in their 60s will meet others in their 60s according to their requested age limits? |

Besides which, the best time to be a single guy is surely when you get well into your 70s. As all your sex are dying off then suddenly Boom! The women vastly outnumber you for once and the older you get, the bigger the ratio gets!

Well, we're in this age bracket and never had so much fun.
Have a deeper look and you'll find that actually, there are a lot of 60+ couples on here.
With this age comes maturity, lack of worries, no kids to bother us at inconvenient times, sexual experience etc etc.
60 seems to be the new 40 !!
Enjoy. |

As a well over 60 who is very computer literate I find the problem is that there is age discrimination in people's age selection.
Mind you I do prefer people in my own age group. They understa@nd the cultural references lol |

That's quite disrespectful towards younger people. |
