Generally speaking anything sold on Sex Toy Vendor sites will be overpriced versions of what you can buy on ebay.

For rope to get started with, Ebay, cotton rope, about 35p a metre. Give it one or more damn good hot washes and lots of fabcon before use. It will feel nice on the skin and take knots ties well enough as to not get in the way of you learning.

Cuffs and collars, watch out for thin ones with hard edges that will chafe and mark the wearer. You can just use scarves and a steel ring from a DIY store to make a cuff, collars from Pets at Home. Whilst your there buy a perforated cat ball, thread rope or ribbon through and voile, a gag

Crops, equestrian suppliers or even supermarkets occasionally, do not by anything too long as they are harder to use accurately and easier to unintentionally hurt with. While your there pick up some vetwrap Great for one shot blindfolds or gags.

Nipple clamps, pegs, little DIY clamps etc just think what effect you want the kit to deliver and think laterally.

Hope this helps

Love honey, does have a good selection of bondage equipment, after that you might want to look at things like the London alternative market where there are different vendors with there own produce, or commercially available stock that you can actually have a look at in person.

That's brilliant advice, exactly what we are after, we are just at the start of this journey into this fetish, we are really intrigued and excited by this, but the old guy in BnQ wasn't that helpful! Ha ha.

Any more hints and tips and where to start looking at techniques would be great

Depends how far you want to delve into the world of bdsm .if you are wanting to have things like sounds ,pinwheels ,tongue and nose restraints ,electro stim toys then you do need to get those on line and some are not cheap .I've just tried guyon sounds .these are quite extreme and expensive but definately not for a novice x

Try contacting Pamela's playroom on here, she is in blyth about 50 miles from you. She has a fantastic selection of toys, floggers etc and I think her partner makes a lot of it and she is a lovely woman too. No need to be shy with her

With a little research, and a visit to your local hardware store, you'd be surprised what you can do yourself.

Personally, we bought some nice, soft, thick ankle and wrist cuffs, already fitted with D rings, and made our own chain sets by buying small shackles, clips and rings in our local BnQ lol.

I've bought things from China via an app. Takes a while to be delivered but very cheap.. Quality isn't brilliant but it's worth it to find out what you like/ don't like

^^^ This exactly. ^^^

We can also fully endorse Jack’s Floggers. We have acquired quite a lot of his products over the years and he’s a great guy to deal with, really knows his stuff. The BBB in Brum is very good too.

If anyone is looking for a heavy timber spanking bench that dissembles, we know where to find one . . . . .

Uberkinky is also a pretty good online shop.

Or as others have said

Lovehoney

Bondora

Are also equally as good.

Hope you manage to find what you're looking for Op

Hull but travel regularly

Unless you’re suspending cheap cotton or other rope is fine.

As a couple why not have a challenge. £10 each and go into the pound shop and see what you can get for it. You’ll be amazed how inventive you can get. Who needs an expensive leather paddle when a kitchen utensil will do? Loads of sensation play stuff too.

If it’s furniture ask again as I (and I’m sure others) know people who make it.

Burnleyish (She/They)

I'm another lover of my Jack's Floggers but my new ones all come from Topping Tools (made by noise on here).

There used to be a small but active scene in the NE. Its worth checking fetlife to see what's on locally, even munches can be great to find stuff out.... Hmm I had a long list of links for helpful reading too. I'll try and find it if you want?

Local munch is a great idea - and if you have a local club that does fet too, they will always welcome newbies to the scene. Not sure what you have in your area in the way of fet clubs, but if you google it, I’m sure you’ll find out. Or if you’re ever over this way, Townhouse do a crossover night each month giving different fet demos to curious Swingers!

Some great advice above about DIY kit too!

Good luck OP!

Check out Esinem or Mark Varley for good rope if you have an interest in rope bondage (and who doesn’t). Both deal in genuine products which they use themselves.

Go for leather cuffs and theb in situations like that. Cable ties are your friend, use to lock shut, hogtie etc. Then just cut to release.

Also if you're playing with rope, but a pair of emt scissors, never place more value on the rope then on the limb.
