Hey guys,

Just had an operation on my abdomen which had left behind quite a large scar. Have been applying bio oil but just wondering if you guys knew of any other ointments/creams thst might be effective.

Thanks in advance x

bio oil is amazing - i had a scar that i disliked and didnt use bio oil until years after and it has lost that bright white look and more like the rest of my skin -

How long have you had the scar? I was told to rub the bio oil in really quite hard, to break down the scar tissue. Rub it in for 15 minutes twice a day for at least a month. Don't 'apply' it softly.

Bio oil is fantastic but an added extra put Savlon on 30 mins before you put bio oil on. Also buy some eye cream, the anti wrinkle kind to put on before bed.

PLUS: Embrace your scars too!

It's more what you are doing than what you are doing it with. It's the massaging that's doing the work, what you are massaging with just makes that easier to do. So you could use a normal plain old moisturiser, it's completely up to you.

One thing that I have seen recommended a lot is silicone sheets for scars, they are supposed to be really good, bit on the pricy side though, but you just stick them on and let them do the work.

Bio oil should really help, there is also steroid injections into keloid scars which help massively x
