I'm not a swinger. I'm here for leisurely encounters of a sexual nature. Some people may call that swinging; I don't.

I am single and seek out single women and also couples. The latter defines me as a swinger even in one-to-one encounters because swinging with couples is within my boundaries. I agree that if I were only seeking out single women then I couldn't regard myself as a swinger. |

As I understand it, 'swinging' was traditionally a couples activity with other couples. I think now, it's evolved more as being 'sex positive' has become more acceptable.
So perhaps 'swinging' is the same as having a more liberated approach to sex, nudity, multiple partners, exhibitionism, kink etc? More along the lines of 'free love'.
I do think the term 'swingers' still conjures the image of the stereotypical 'keys in the bowl' parties among the vanilla folk. So maybe that's the true definition? And everything else is just an exploration and expression of being 'sex positive'?

For us the term swingers relates to couples who swap. However the term is outdated, and we prefer sexually enlightened  . I do always laugh a bit when I see single guys call themselves swingers because 95% of the time they don't have a clue about the scene. There are some single guys who I would call swingers but few and far between |

If one is to regard one-to-one sex in private as the norm, then I think it’s useful to have a word to describe sex that is a bit outside the norm, ie involving more than 2 people where others may of may not be watching. So to me that’s what swinging is.

I like labels. Labels are nouns which are an integral part of language. I find it easier to describe myself as a swinger or a hotwife, than have to use a combination of numerous adjectives, verbs, and nouns, when one noun will suffice. And likewise it’s easier to ask for jam than ask for preserved fruit in sugar.

In my opinion swinging is as much a mental state as it is a physical one.
I'm a swinger. I meet people 1 on 1, I go to clubs alone. I meet couples, go to clubs with female friends, watch others, join in.
I wouldn't say a meet from here 1 to 1 isn't a swinging meet, but meeting a couple is...that doesn't make sense to me.
It's the attitude, mindset and approach to this..and for me that's the all encompassing ttitle of being a swinger. |

I don't think anyone has issues with labels or nouns.
It's the way they are used to create division separation and hierarchies.

I didn't mean to imply that those who don't "Swing" Aren't emotionally mature, or those who do are. Sorry if it came across that way, I can see how reading it that way may grind, annoy or upset.
What I mean is, I have the emotional maturity to handle multiple ongoing relationships of different kinds, at the same time.
I am an emotional person, I prefer to have a mental, as well as physical connection with someone. This requires a level of emotional intelligence to stop myself from getting hurt, or confusing those I choose to "Swing with".
I can also be drawn to looms and body alone, if they're what I'd consider "Very physically desireable" And there are no negatives that draw me away from them.
Im happy with 1-2-1, MMF, FFM, Foursomes and Moresomes, provided there is attraction, mutual respect and a match of personality (with the other males involved).
I'm also quite confident that I'd be very happy "Swinging" With a long term partner im in love with and all it entails. I'd hope im now experienced enough to make that assumption, though i cant say for sure, as ive not met the right person who feels the same about me AND "Swinging".

I’d go along with this! All I know is that I now have a great social life and I’ve had by far the best sex of my life since joining fab! In the ‘real world ‘ I’m a respectable middle aged Mum who behaves with decorum and would rarely even flirt in public - let alone pick someone up!

That is very much along the lines of how I see things. Back when I was single I knew that if I was ever lucky enough to meet and fall in love with anyone. That person would need to have an open mind with regard to swinging if the relationship was to have any chance of lasting.
So although I didn't meet the dictionary definition of a swinger I knew that I was one.
Now that I am part of a couple the mindset of any single guys we meet has a big influence on their chances of playing with us.
We don't interrogate everyone that we encounter but any time we get that "if it was me I'd NEVER share my wife/girlfriend with anyone else vibe" chances of anything happening with us go from maybe to zero.

Dictionary definitions
noun
The definition of a swinger is slang for someone who lives an uninhibited lifestyle.
A person who engages freely in experimental sexual behavior is an example of a swinger.
Informal
a person who engages in group sex or the swapping of sexual partners.
Debate for ever, which is fun. There is no right answer as it’s top opinion based.
Definitions change overtime as society and trends change. None of the above examples exclude singles.

Nope its singles being singles!
I think singles bring a lot to the scene but it takes two to swing 
Also ive seen quite a few singles who couple up on here and then instantly announce they are no longer meeting... WTF lol any genuine swinger who met another swinger would be over the moon because they can induldge in their 'hobby' together. What they wouldn't do is instantly stop because one or both of them are jealous.

It’s casual no-strings fun, with likeminded people, so swinging in the literal translation.
Couples full-swap ‘swinging’ with other couples, is wife-swapping. At what point do couples become swingers? Where does the term originate? |
