Some vindictive little faceless person has just outed as swingers on Facebook.
They have named my partner on a post I made.
They asked if may family and friends knew we swing and apparently our sexual meets and photos are common place at Dicks works.
I am a tad pissed off, yes my family and friends know what we do.
How would you deal with being outed in such a public fashion?
Is there anything I can do about it? |

If anyone is sending messages with intent to cause distress they may be committing offences under the malicious communications act.
You can ask Facebook to take it down but I'd hide your profile to avoid strangers looking you up.

Not the same thing, but I was mortified recently when comments I posted on a youtube account, somehow had been showing up on my facebook wall for some time, for anyone to see, even though it's a completely separate and unrelated account. And since I so rarely use facebook, I didn't know how to delete anything or get rid of it. I scheduled my profile for deletion in October and it's still there. Apparently my profile is now hidden/deactivated but I still don't know if anyone can see my profile. I'm done with facebook for good if I can ever get rid of my profile there. |

OP we had this after a fashion, someone local recognised us and wrote unpleasant mails threatening to send screenshots to work, kids schools, family etc then went UNLOS. Some sad flipping people on here |

its a difficult one ,in this life people get jealous ,people judge you ,people get badly treated ,people are vindictive oh and Facebook is intrusive I don't have it and never have ,for me its simple I'm single I can do as I please but for couples with families etc not so good when this happens hopefully a lesson learned  |

people get jealous or get badly treated ,people judge I got blocked yesterday by a woman for a jokey comment ,theirs a fine line between being liked and not ,their was a thread earlier about nasty reactions by in that case guys because the person wouldn't meet ,nice people react in an appropriate manner if treated in the same vein ,others don't this can apply to men or women |

My sister accidentally outed me on Facebook.. thing is she doesn't know.. she thought she was being funny.. made some of my Fab friends hearts skip a beat though

That's totally horrible. Sorry for your troubles 0P.
You can take the legal/ police route but that may put it more in the public domain especially if they decide to prosecute
You can ask Facebook to take it down but even then any other links it's attached to will also need to be taken down. and there is no guarantee it won't reappear elsewhere.
And sadly it's already out there.
It may help to do all the above and hide your profile here for some time.
But it may also be worth considering just fronting it out. People will soon lose interest and move on to messing with someone else's life.

However, whether a disclosure is in the public interest is not a decision to be taken lightly.
Solid justification is required before individual rights are set aside and specialist or legal advice should be sought before the information is disclosed.
Any decision to disclose should be fully documented.
Disclosures required by court order should be referred to the organisation’s legal advisors as promptly as possible, so that any necessary representations may be made to the court, for example to limit the information requested.
If a disclosure is made which is not permitted under common law the patient/client could possibly bring a legal action not only against the organisation but also against the individual responsible for the breach.

I am also pretty sure thier is some law to protect you. For one you can contact Facebook and make your case Facebook are very proactive now regarding trolling and behaviour like this. So alongside of considering the police I’d def contact Facebook xx |

That is shocking. I would say their pattern of behaviour certainly constitutes harassment, which itself should be enough for Facebook (& the police) to act.

Personally I'd hide your face pics, your veris & your verification summary. At least for a while, even if you don't choose to hide your profile until it dies down.
I would also ask them calmly to stop, then ignore them: don't give them the reaction they are feeding off.
If it is any consolation, the last public survey showed that the general public are generally supportive of swingers, it is just that those who aren't are more vocal.
Sadly a court case ruled a couple of years ago that putting anything on here meant it could be republished anywhere, including newspapers, along with your real name. We deleted our face pics at that point, along with any other pics with recognisable backgrounds unique to us.

I've made contact and caught up with friends I've not seen in years. Everyone who's a friend on Facebook are people I know from primary school upwards.
When I travel alone it gives my family especially, peace of mind to see I'm okay and enjoying myself...love it!  |

No details of what we do are given to anyone.
I believe it is someone who worked for the company and no longer does.

As I said I assumed it would be a workmate as he says he has seen pics at your partners work.... someone must have shown him them for him to know this.
If you are not bothered about people knowing you swing then I don't see what the problem is that strangers now know too. |

Sorry to hear what's happened to you, there's definitely grounds for criminal and civil proceeding. My advice would be to contact a solicitor as unfortunately in this day and age nothing gets done without done! |

"Some vindictive little faceless person has just outed as swingers on Facebook.
They have named my partner on a post I made.
They asked if may family and friends knew we swing and apparently our sexual meets and photos are common place at Dicks works.
I am a tad pissed off, yes my family and friends know what we do.
How would you deal with being outed in such a public fashion?
Is there anything I can do about it? "
"Facebooks reply was in a nutshell, there is nothing wrong and did break any of their rules, so the post is still up and now the said person has been posting the same stuff on Dicks posts.
Theses too have been reported to no avail."
Once again may I ask....you have referred to 'a post I made' and to 'Dicks posts'. Why did you not simply just screencap the comments and delete the posts? |

No details of what we do are given to anyone.
I believe it is someone who worked for the company and no longer does.
The page in question is an open page for anyone to see, so it's the wider public seeing the post that's annoyed me.
I have no shame in what we do.
The matter is in police hands now. "
That's good hear, really do dislike stories like this and hope it all gets resolved in the right way. Take our hats off to you both, not sure we'd have been so calm. They'll get their dues.  |

This is a strange thread. If you were bothered about privacy or being outed, you wouldn't have so many public pics on display after two (near three) days of being able to review your profile. You are still pretty recognisable both as Mrs and Mr, and have your town and height etc as further descriptors.
The guy is obviously wrong in posting you stuff up publicly but everything on the net is public really - just not for distribution. You could mitigate it though by not letting the world know you swing should anyone want to verify what the guy is saying. |

Then I have to ask, why do you care about the opinions of people you don't know?
Not condoning what this person did, he/she obviously thought they were outing you and that is unacceptable. But this is one of the rare cases when outing backfires, and you can take glee in rubbing it in their faces. |

I’m so sorry this has happened to you. I recently had the same thing happen ( a not so honest man got caught out and his girlfriend held onto screenshots and details FOR A YEAR then sent them to my brother and other family memebers via inbox on Facebook  ) and it’s illegal. I’m still in the process of prosecuting for it. If you feel you need to go ahead and contact the police then you shouldn’t hesitate |

Block the Facebook poster.
Change your settings
Check WhatsApp contacts... Fb own it.....
Check who has friends access.
But be aware any public pics can be saved by anyone.
