Theory has it that for every person who posts on a forum like this, there are hundreds who prefer to simply read the threads without posting anything themselves. This is fine, of course, but if you're someone who doesn't normally post, why not take this opportunity to say hello, just to let us know you're there.
(wonders if this will be a tumble experiment) |

Know what you mean, but there really isn't any kind of club here. It's a 'more the merrier' kind of place. |

Must admit, it has felt a little like that for me also. Lurking could be the way forward! |

If you've got something to say, say it.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one, show us yours.
I meant metaphorically rather than literally.

If you're nervous, or unsure about posting, go for something uncontentious like the 'what book are you reading now' thread.
There's nothing to be scared of there and it's a good way of dipping a toe in the water.
(unless you think the Da Vinci Code is real of course, in which case I will hunt you down and destroy you) |

Hi Babe here,
Have posted a couple of times but thought I would say hi anyway.
Not so scary here no worse than going into the chartrooms for the first time. |

Going into the chatrooms is like standing naked in the middle of the M25, having just woken up and with no idea how you got there or what is happening. |

We are all newbies the the forums at some point and as someone who did believe there was the clique in them I can honestly say that I was totally wrong . There is no clique just a bunch of mad people who all have their own opinions and if the didnt the forums would be very boring . Agree with sensual jump in in the funny threads , never be afraid to give your opinion but be prepared for those that dont agree. Stay within the rules dont get drawn into any bickering it normally gets sorted out without handbags at dawn but above all enjoy after all thats what this is about fun . |

Although I know you are taking the piss out of me I do agree with what you have said there
Its the type of thread that no-one can possibly be afraid of posting on and it gets people chatting
The Da Vinci Code is'nt real? |

Okay Newbies, here's your object lesson in forum misunderstandings which lead to bickering and then full on fist-fights.
The poster above and I have both been on here since Jesus was a boy.
We both contribute to the forums.
We don't know each other.
The poster above 'knows' I'm taking the piss out of them, I'm guessing with my Da Vinci code reference.
I didn't read the whole thread before posting, maybe they said it was their fave book or something.
But in fact I just mentioned it 'cos I hate Dan Brown books (in my personal opinion et etc and so added a humorous aside)
The poster above then thought it was directed at them. THIS is where people go wrong on the forums, making assumptions about what other people said being about them and then getting narky about it.
NOW both the poster above and I are big enough to see the funny side of what just happened. It's a great a great example of what CAN happen on the forums when two people misunderstand each other.
The poster above and I will have no problem in getting over this. In fact we'll probably PM each other and end up meeting for squishy, noisy, sweaty, animalistic sex.
Make the forums your friend, and you'll make friends in the forums.

I find the forums and chat can be a good way to get to know people and show that I am not a typical single male only on the site for one thing.
However I do find that sometimes chat is so busy it can be really difficult to get noticed or hold a good conversation with someone.
Still I enjoy chatting to new people and making friends.

Am fairly new to Fab, but not to Forum chat in general. Have dipped my rather large big toe into the odd thread or two. I mostly lurk, but I will post when a thread tickles my fancy or when I think adding a comment may tickle some one else's fancy or when there's a semi serious discussion going on and I have the urge to stick my oar in!
I love the humour of the forums and have already learned A LOT from reading the threads.
So, a belated 'Hi' to all x

That's great, and we're glad you're here.
As far as learning lot's from Fabsters is concerned, if it's tips on swinging and associated topics - fine. If however, it's landing an Airbus at Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong, I'd recommend reading a manual. |

Definitely time to make a concerted effort to use the forums more now I have some time on my hands. Tried chat the other day, but it didn't really do anything for me. Maybe the more relaxed pace on here will suit me. |

" Maybe the more relaxed pace on here will suit me."
Erm, yeah.
Welcome to the forums, post and join in. Please.
But have a good ferret around first, i'm not sure 'relaxed' would be a word many people would use.
BUT, if we could get some new posters who are of less of a reactionary bent than some, the forums may could turn it to a place of love and tranquillity.
(though it should be noted that this is about as likely as Angelina Jolie begging me for an ass-fuck this afternoon) |

Meant relaxed as in the speed of posts. But yeah having lurked for a while, there are a few times I've thought some people need to just sit back and chill. Not that I'm averse to the occasional mass debate of course! |
