All you ladies out there and possibly from the North East please check out the BBC news site re the above to see if you've met or played with this chap.
the police believe its important enough to warrant releasing his pic. |

Hope the ladies on here and men are always on guard about HIV. You have to wait three months to get an HIV test, the antibodies do not show before that. |

Its one reason to bring back the death penalty. what possible prison sentence could equate what he has done to people. HIV isnt the death sentence it once seemed to be but sleeping with people knowing you have it and can pass it on is so unacceptable. |

chemical or physical castration could be options but how do you force someone to do it?
problem being a cure could be just around the corner..but thats another discussion |

Condoms with a spermicide in them are the only thing anyone embarking on a swinging lifestyle need to do to stop the spread.
Its not the people you know who have HIV that are the problem - its the ones who have it and are unaware. Anyone may have already had had sex with those people in a club.
In my opinion you should trust nobody to look after your sexual interests. Its down to the individual to be prudent and all the publicity and examples in the world are useless if they don't practice safe sex. |

unless its given the go ahead by legal authorities, the clubs could end up getting into hot water and legal problems relating to.... human rights.

Seriously though, if the "authorities" were serious about such things they could do more.
We often hear how 50,000 ( or so ) are HIV positive yet don't know. According to a mate of mine ( DofH ) the authortities do know, but can't release confidential information for other purposes.

I might get knocked down by a bus or hit by an asteroid too if you look for danger in everything. This guy who is from the north east and has been having unprotected sex up there so it makes sense to avoid people in that area. Nothing is fool proof like condoms but why put your self at additional risk if you don't have to. |

Don't bother Jerche ,strangely it was this kind of willfull it couldnt happen to me that probably led to the guy catching Hiv in the first place.
In the UK in 2009 there were 65,319 people in the UK living with a diagnosed HIV infection and accessing care.
There are estimated to be a further 22000 infected but undiagnosed. You are at far greater risk from one of this group. The only thing yo can do if you swing is play safe.Deciding one area is more dangerous than another will not minimize your risk, but it may give u a false sense of security.
(data from the NTA)
i do think the police have been guilty of poor judgement here.(But Teeside police are not famous for their great intelligence or abilities)He gave his partner HIV,there is no evidence he had unprotected sex with anyone else.i just thank God the baby was born healthy. |

The thing is, HIV is not costing lives at the rate it was predicted and the latest studies are aimed at reasearch into to why it is not developing into full blown AIDS in this country, in the manner it did when first brought to public attention.
It is very rare nowadays for someone to die from the complications of HIV infection, as its so well controlled and medicated once diagonosed now. One report is suggesting a natural antibody is holding it in check even without medication.
The fear of the disease is that it kills you but many people are living decades after being infected. Flu kills more people every year in this country than AIDS does.
In 2009 it was reported that 25 million people have died of HIV related infections since the pandemic began. Ninety seven percent of those affected lived in poor to middle income sub- saharan Africa. Infection from needle use has dropped dramatically and only 65 cases were reported last year.
Also a lot of websites will give you statistics in a number, for example the latest one is a guesstimate that 100,000 people are now infected by HIV. That figure is debatable.
The rest of the article will then switch to talking in percentages. They will begin sentences with the words to the effect that 30% of people do not know they have the infection. It is written in a way that can make it look like 30% of the population has the HIV virus not 30% of the guesstimate of 100,000 thought to be infected.
These sorts of knee jerking statistics and articles make people panic into thinking it is a huge problem in this country. It is a worldwide problem and everyone should be vigilant of their sexual practices, due to people working all over the world, but nobody should be led to believe that every person you sleep with is a potential carrier. Strangers from the internet are more likely to beat you up than give you HIV if statistics are anything to go by.
The facts are in average or even excessive amounts of sexual partners it is still very difficult to become infected with HIV.
I made my comment with regards to men visiting Thailand for sex where HIV is a huge problem and are now considered a risk group.
Its differentiating between risk groups and risky behaviour and not living in fear of something that you are going to be very unlucky to come across, so self protection and knowledge of facts will serve you better than statistics, in my very humble opinion. |

Sorry I meant to say that if 30% of the 100,000 people with undiagnosed HIV infection (30,000)were having sex with the adult population you would have to sleep with around 1,700 people before meeting one with HIV. Thats canny going even for swingers. |

Let's see Teeside police believe there could be up to 200 people he came into contact with! That's possible 200 case of GBH for which he was convicted and possibly 200 death sentences for those people.
In One of the other cases the police have not been able to contact those who came in to contact with that individual.
So do the police take this step and them get criticised by people such as yourself or do they not bother?!
It's not just about catching and prosecuting it's about protecting.
I'm just grateful your not the person who gets to make difficult judgement calls! |

The police have no evidence he has slept with anyone else.
From the Middlesbrough Gazette
Det Insp Andy Greenwood said today: “The victim will now suffer for the rest of her life through the reckless and callous behaviour of this individual.
“She is unable to have a normal life and carry out day-to-day activities through no fault of her own.”
He added: “The possibility exists that he’s had relationships with other people.
“They can come forward and tell us about it and we can take the appropriate action now.”
Where anyone gets the idea he has had multiple sex partners,or the wild idea of 200 from is unclear.

Food for thought there JF.
And, surely someone who 'might have' slept with 200 women would have quicker ways of finding partners than the swinging scene (IE: prostitutes or even a night in a 'lowbrow' bar.) |

Compulsory testing of who? By whom? and what will be done with that information?
Quite apart from the fact that it can take up to 3 months for the antibodies to show in some people...it would be utterly useless information-how exactly would it save any lives? |

And what if people refuse to be a subject of a compulsory test.....Prison?
Lets just print id numbers on their inner wrists while we are at it, that way we could trace them all the time....oh, hold on, that's been done before.
Barcodes on their necks then? |

Barcodes...hmmm...must be better than having those horibble stars on the neck..how unoriginal/chavvie is that now?..
Good point though about the repercussions of refusing, maybe if there was a way of making it easier for people to have it done and encouraging them more...I knew of someone back in the 80's who became very ill due to his embarrassment of going to his local SDI clinic for Syphilis...there must be a way of making it easier to get tested..

Not being funny Cute, but you say you got pregnant with a man you were seeing for two weeks, he could have had an STD too.
Now obviously I don't know if you went BB or not and wouldn't dream of asking you to answer that... but even if people use condoms accidents can happen, there is only so much you can do to be safe.
I personally think he is an arse not telling people...but then he probably would have been turned down a lot. |
